The subject of the lesson: The famous sportsman

 

Objectives, Aims: - to generalize and systematize lexical and grammatical skills;

  • To develop writing, reading, listening and oral skills;
  • To develop the language ability and language response of students;
  • To develop a tolerant attitude toward s fellow human being and a positive attitude toward a healthy lifestyle.

Today, we are continuing to speak about sport and on this lesson  we are going to speak about famous sportsman and their way to victory. I want that you give me the answers to the questions:

1) Vitaliy Klychko, elder brother, is the current WBC world heavyweight champion. He has the highest knockout percentage (95%) of all heavyweight boxing champions in overall fights. He also holds the distinction of being a three-time world heavyweight champion, having previously held the WBO and WBC titles, and has never been knocked out or knocked down in any professional boxing bout. His younger brother, Volodymyr Klychko, is a Ukrainian heavyweight boxer. Klychko is the unified IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine Champion of the world.

 

2) Vasyl Virastyuk is a strongman competitor. He competed in the finals of the World’s Strongest Man contest in 2003 (3rd place) and 2004 (1st place). He won the 2007 IFSA Strongman World Championship as well.

 

3) Yana Klochkova is a swimmer, who won five Olympic medals. Four gold medals came in the 200-metre individual medley and the 400-metre individual medley at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. Her silver medal came in the 800-metre freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

 

4) Liliya Podkopayeva is the 1996 Olympic all-around champion. She is widely regarded as one of the best gymnasts in history. She is the proud owner of 45 gold, 21 silver and 14 bronze medals.

 

5) Andriy Shevchenko is a Ukrainian footballer who played for «Dynamo Kyiv» and the Ukraine national team as a striker. He is the third-highest goalscorer in Champions League history with 58 goals. The most prestigious of Andriy’s awards were the Ballon d’Or in 2004 and the UEFA Champions League in 2003 with Milan. Besides the Golden Ball, Shevchenko was awarded other individual awards.

 

6) Vasiliy Lomachenko

Vasiliy Lomachenko is the most titled athlete of Ukraine in the amateur ring: Olympic champion in 2008 and 2012, two-time world champion in 2009 and 2011, European champion in 2008, 2006 junior world champion, 2004 European champion among juniors, multiple champion of Ukraine, winner of the Val Barker Trophy. In the summer of 2013, Vasily Lomachenko started his career in professional boxing and signed a contract with American promoter company Top Rank.

 

7) Inessa Kravets

In 1995 at the world championship in Sweden, Gothenburg, Inessa Kravets, Olympic champion of the Games in Atlanta, silver medalist of the Games in Barcelona, ​​multiple world champion and world record holder created a miracle in triple jumping, flying to the mark of 15.50 m. And for 18 years no one can surpass this fantastic record of the Ukrainian athlete.
