Цілі:

•                 Практична: розвивати уміння читати текст, ігноруючи незнайомі слова та виділяти з тексту необхідну інформацію; розвивати вміння усного мовлення в типових комунікативних ситуаціях;
•                 Освітня: розширити знання учнів про зимові види відпочинку;
•                 Розвиваюча: розвивати здатність порівнювати мовні явища рідної та іноземної мов; розвивати здатність домислювати значення іноземних слів та виразів;
•                 Виховна: виховувати інтерес до життя та природи.

Обладнання: Підручники (M. Mann, S. Taylore-Knowles – Laser B2 Students Book), робочий зошит, дошка.

Тип уроку – комбінований

Хід уроку

І.     Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення

1. Greeting. T: Good morning, children. I'm glad to see you.

2. Introducing topic and aim of the lesson. T: Today we are going to to discuss different winter kind of activities. You will work on new vocabulary connected with this topic and we also will do some reading.

3. Lead-in. T: Today we are going to discuss various winter kind of activities. Would you please open your student books at page 24? Here you can see a picture under the words. What do you see at picture? Please feel free to use the words above to describe it. Guess which country it is on the picture.

Suggested answers: I see the mountains covered with snow and the trees on the background. The sportsman is skiing down the mountain. It is probably in Austria within the Alps.

Do you think it is a man or a woman?

I think it is a man because men like extreme sports better. /I think it can be woman because women also participate in such kind of activities.

Would you like to be on his/her shoes and try such kind of sport?

Yes, it must b exciting. /No, it is too dangerous.

II. Основна частина уроку

I. Reading.

Pre-reading

“Do you ever go on holiday at times of the year other than summer?” Students have 3-5 minutes to answer this question in written. The teacher gives example in oral:

Unfortunately, I have never been on holidays other than summer. However, I would like to go to Carpathians and do some snowboarding as I really like experiencing something new.

Three of the students read their answer, the class votes for the best one.

While-reading

Students read the text on page 25 missing the gaps and underline the key words/expressions. Afterwards they are given 10 minutes in order to complete ex.3 on page 24. Once done, the students exchange their student books and tick how many points are correct.

Post-reading

Ex 1, p.24. Match each place to the correct activity.

1. Australia
2. Chamonix
3. Jukkasjarvi
4. Alaska

1. Dog sledding
2. Cross country skiing
3. Sunbathing
4. Staying in an ice hotel.

Ex 2, p.24. Read the fifth paragraph of the text and decide if these statements are true or false.

1. The hotel is very comfortable
2. You can visit the hotel at any time of year.
3. The temperature at the hotel is usually below freezing.
4. Guests often complain about the extreme cold.

Ex. 4 p. 24. Match the words/expressions with their meaning.

Write the translation according to the definitions.

Discussion. Which kind of winter resort do you most of all among those listed in the text?

III. Заключна частина уроку

1. Homework. Students book (p. 24, “Have your say”). Give an answer in written, 7-10 sentences for each question. 

2. Summarizing. T: So, today we have discussed different types of winter resorts and learnt some knew words. I hope you enjoyed the lesson.
