Theme: Education.  Role of school in our life.

Objectives:

• To learn and practice new vocabulary,

• To develop reading for comprehension skills,

•Can understand the main ideas of complex text,

•Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources,

•Increase students’ motivation in studying at school

Technical supplies: cards, presentation.

                                                   Procedure

Warming up

1). Look at these pictures and tell me about the theme of our lesson ( School).

What kinds of school can you see here? At what age do the children start/ finish to go to this school? What are the main activities at this stage?

2). The teacher dictates 3 sentences from the passage. Students write them down and check with a friend. The sentences go on the board if necessary as a final check. Then the teacher asks how these sentences might be connected. What is the text about? Students predict then read the text quickly to check their predictions.

Pre-reading

1). Match the words with the pictures. Explain your choice. For exemple:

All of us spend much (considerable) time to photograph our canine and their various moods.

Knowledge, mutual respect, curriculam, considerable time, acquirihg information

2). Match the words with their definitions.

3). Write down sentences with these words. Time is limited.

For exemple: Relations between management and staff should be guided by mutual respect.

4). Before students look at the text they are going to read, the teacher writes 5 or 6 words from the text on the board and asks the students to guess the topic.

For exemple: not just Information but the organization, the group work, teamwork and games, not only a place of formal education, realize and demonstrate our Individual talents.

 5). Select some of the key words from the text. Put the class into two or three groups. In turn, a learner from each group (at the same time) comes to the whiteboard. They are told the word and they have to draw that word. They are not allowed to use letters or numbers in their drawing. The other students try to guess the word and earn points for their team. This can get very lively indeed!

6). Used KWL Charts in the classrooms, KWL Charts are simple. Just have students write everything they know about the topic  (K column) and everything they want to know (W column) and what they learned after the reading (L Column).

1). Put in the words and phrases into the text.

______it Is obviously, that some students like school, others think they hate It. For students who are doing well, school Is an attractive place. But those, who are ……………………………and are always pressed by teachers and their parents, consider school boring and uninteresting.

______After the home, school Is the main …………..for young people. At school we make out best friends, with whom we spend considerable time going together to excursions, concerts, parties and discos.

______At school we can enjoy …………………….and, at the same time, realize and demonstrate our Individual talents, everybody has an opportunity to take part In dramatic and musical performances at a school or class party, or In school or Interschool sports competitions. Now, many of the activities are organized through clubs. They provide variety to the main educational programs and can also be enjoyed away from school and outside regular school hours.
