We have many holidays in Ukraine but I’d like to tell you about the children’s favourite ones. St. Nicolas Day is on the 19^th of December. It is a winter holiday. On this day parents and relatives try to surprise their kids by placing small gifts, toys, books into symbolic shoes or even under the pillows. St. Nicolas is the most well known saint. People consider him first to help with any trouble. Every child who behaved well during the year will receive a nice present from St. Nicolas on this day.

Easter is the most important holiday of the year. In Ukraine, Easter is called Velykden. It is one of the brightest holiday in Ukraine. It falls on one of spring Sundays. This day is associated with many interesting customs and traditions: coloured eggs, paski, greetings and religious ceremonies. Easter cake (‘Paska’) and painted eggs (‘Pysanka’) are the symbols of Ukrainian Easter. It’s a family holiday, so all the members should gather around the Easter table. In the evening people go to church for the Easter mass, which lasts all night. Easter Sunday is a day of singing songs and eating. That means that the family will stay together all round the year.

Цiлi урока: - вдосконалювати навички вживання нових лексичних одиниць, й

навички вимови;

- удосконалювати навички усного мовлення, читання й письма;

- виховувати гордість за свою рідну країну, повагу до українських

традицій.

Звернення до учня:

На цьому уроці ти познайомишся з наступним українським святом – Трійця. Навчишся вживати нові слова та розповідати про свої улюблені свята. Схоже свято з нашою Трійцею відзначають у Iрландії – День св. Патрика.

II. Read the text.

Holy Trinity Day is a very important religious holiday in Ukraine. Trinity - Sunday, the 50th day after Easter, the holiday in honor of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Holy Trinity Day is a summer holiday. All the houses are decorated with green branches, flowers, fragrant herbs, because plants are a symbol of life. By this time everything is in blossom and nature finally wakes up. In Ukraine, the Holy Trinity is celebrated for three days. The first day is the Green Sunday, the second - Klechalny Monday and the third – Bohodukhiv (God-and-Spirit) day.

All the houses are decorated with green branches and flowers.

We have mani holidiys in Ukraine. First it is the New Year. It is mery to decorate the New Year trea, to danse near it and to receive presants.

Than in a weak there is Cristmas. In Ukraine it is an old and popular holidays. In the moning boys go from hous to house, sing traditional holiday songs and wich

everything good to the people they vizit. The people give them swets, cakes and maney.
