The Subject of the Lesson:  Ancient Civilisations

 

Objectives: to the end of the lesson students will be able to :

review lexical units and grammar material about Past Simple (regular and irregular verbs,   affirmatives, negatives, questions), develop reading, listening/watching  skills, get necessary information, develop the skill  to work in groups

Procedure

 

  1. Warming up

 

Take a card, answer the question and join the group according to the question

  1. Where did you go last weekend?
  2. Did you see a new film last Monday?
  3. When did you go to bed yesterday?
  4. What did you eat for breakfast?
  5. How many lessons did you have yesterday?
  6. Did you read a book a week ago?
  7. What did you wear last Friday?
  8. Where did you have dinner yesterday?
  9. How much water did you drink after last PE lesson?
  10. When did you go shopping last week?
  11. Did you stay at home yesterday?
  12. How did you feel two days ago?
  13. What did you see in the museum?
  14. Where did you see your friend?
  15. When did you take photos?

  • Pre-reading activity

Do you like to learn about past times? What lessons can help you? What do you know about people in the past?

What ancient civilization do you know?

 

  • While- reading activity

Let’s read the text SB ex1 page 39, while reading match 3 pictures to each paragraph, circle regular verbs and underline irregular.

 

  • Post- reading activity

Read the sentences and match Ancient Egypt, Roman Empire or Aztec ex2 page 39

 Look through the text again, underline regular and irregular verbs in Past Simple, then tell the first form of each verb.

              Keys: Papyrus plants grow on the banks of the River Nile. It’s a holy plant for Egyptian people. Its stem look like pyramid. The pyramid is the symbol of eternal life. People use a green part of  the stem to make baskets. They use a white part to make papyrus paper. Its flowers look like the rays of the sun. They use them to make perfumes.
