Topic: Holidays. Birthday party.

Aim: - to teach pupils to operate the topical words in speech;

         - to train pupils to make sentences;

        - to develop pupils’ reading, listening, writing and speaking skills;

        - to revise verb tenses.

Materials: handouts, pictures, word cards.

The procedure:

I. Greeting. Warming up.

- Good morning children! ­(пісня «Good morning»)

- How are you today? Are you ready for the lesson?

II. Vocabulary revision. (Додаток 1)

1) -What day is it today?

- What season is it now?

- What are the winter months?

- What holidays do you celebrate in winter?

- What are the spring months?

- What holidays do you celebrate in spring?

- What are the summer months?

- What holidays do you celebrate in summer?

- What are the autumn  months?

- What holidays do you celebrate in autumn? (відповіді учнів)

2) Working with handouts. (додаток 2)

- Now match the holidays with the dates we celebrates them and say as in the example.

III. Main part of the lesson.

All of us like to celebrate his or her birthday and today we are going to speak about it. Firstly let’s remember our “birthday words”.

1) Please, go to the blackboard and write the missing letters.

2) Imagine that you are going to have a birthday party. Help yourself to collect things for it. Listen to the words and clap your hands when a word is necessary for your party.

A school bag, sweets, a pen, a birthday cake, a copy-book, balloons, a bed, food, music flowers, candles, a pencil-box, presents, guests, toys, a book, drinks, games.

- Children, look at your task on the cards. Here is an interview of a boy. His name is Alec. The journalist mixed the questions and the answers. Your task is to connect the question with the right answer.

- Look at the blackboard and make up sentences.

- Did you like our lesson? You worked hard, you were very active and you get good marks today. Now let’s sing our favourite song “If you are happy”.

When the guests come, Mike is very happy. The friends give Mike flowers, books, sweets, toys. They sing the song “Happy birthday”. It is a funny birthday.

Say if the sentences are TRUE or FALSE.
