2. Warm-up.

Let’s start with the riddle. Guess the country.

It’s the former colonial state of cool temper.

3. Vocabulary.

So, today we start a new topic – English-Speaking Countries. And the first country we are going to speak is the UK. And let’s start with vocabulary. Your task for the previous lesson was ex. 1 on p. 65 – translate and match. So, look at the pictures and tell what you can see.

Your homework for today was ex.2 on p. 65 – read and translate the text about the reigns of Britain in different historical periods and draw the table in your exercise books. So, let’s complete this table.

First let’s speak about the king Henry II:

-         What famous events took place at the period of his reign? Write down into the column “Events” in brief.

-         What interesting facts about this person and this period have you read about? Write down this information in the table.

Now let’s speak about the king John and complete the table.

 Elizabeth II is the Queen of the country from 1952. She is the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Elizabeth is known to take a serious interest in government business aside from the traditional duties. During her ruling there were World War II, the Korean War, Brexit crisis and in spite of all that she got her country out of some difficult situations. She founded the Commonwealth Games to promote corporation among 53 nations using the power of sport. From the 1950s up to the 1990s the Queen helped many of the countries of Commonwealth in gaining independence or autonomy. Elizabeth II is the symbol of the UK.
