Цілі уроку:

 

Освітня: познайомити з біографією і творчістю Р.Бернса, розширити та поглибити знання учнів із мови, що вивчається; активізувати вживання лексичних одиниць за темою уроку,  збагатити словниковий запас учнів,   розвивати навички говоріння та читання мовчки, вчити відповідати на питання за текстом, поширити знання учнів про відомих англійських та американських письменників та поетів,  вчити будувати монологічні висловлювання на основі тексту, організувати бесіду  про Шотландію з опорою на малюнки та вірш поета, удосконалювати  техніку пошукового читання,  повторити граматичний матеріал (вживання часів, непряма мова)

 

.Практична:
1) удосконалювати навички усного монологічного мовлення за темою;
2) розвивати граматичні вміння вживання часів та непрямої мови;

3) сприяти розвитку мовленнєвої компетентності .

 

Розвивальна:

розвивати різні види мовної діяльності, розширювати соціокультурну і комунікативну компетенції на підставі країнознавчого матеріалу.
розвивати пам’ять, увагу, логічне та критичне мислення в процесі виконання навчальних завдань. розвивати пізнавальну активність учнів, вчити помічати важливе в повсякденному житті, виховувати самостійність, вчити узагальнювати, розвивати швидку мовленнєву реакцію, пізнавальну активність, уміння логічного викладу думок із теми, інтерес до власної літератури та літератури, мова якої вивчається.

Виховна:

виховувати самостійність, повагу до культури країни, мова якої вивчається; заохочувати учнів до вивчення творчості англійських та американських письменників та поетів, розвивати загальнокультурні вміння спілкуватися з людьми, сприяти розширенню кругозору учнів, виховувати бажання вивчати культуру англомовних країн.

Обладнання та матеріали:

підручник, карта, тематичні картинки, роздавальний матеріал із теми, презентація.                                                   

                                                     ХІД УРОКУ

I. Організаційний момент. Вступна частина. Уведення в мовне середовище

T: Good afternoon, students! Glad to see you! How are you?  Dear friends, try to forget that we are at the lesson. We are going to have a friendly talk about a famous Scottish poet Robert Burns. We also learn some interesting facts about other English & American Writers & poets.

II. Основна частина

1.Перевірка домашнього завдання .

   Ex. 7, p. 77 ( на дошці –правильні варіанти)

2. Бесіда про англійських письменників та поетів з опорою на малюнки

   підручника

T:  Do you like to read, children? What kinds of stories do you enjoy most? Who is your favourite writer? Have you read any books in English? Which ones? What is the best book you’ve ever read?

Now look at the pictures of Ex. 1, p.78. Say who of these English writers do you know. Which of their literary works have you read?

S1: In Picture A we can see a famous English poet, an actor and a dramatist William Shakespeare. I know his plays” Romeo & Juliet”, “Hamlet” & some of his poems.

S2: In Picture B we can see a famous Scottish poet Robert Burns.

S3: In Picture C we can see a famous English writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of Sherlock Holmes.

S4: In Picture D we can see a famous English writer Rudyard Kipling, the author of  “Mowgli” or “the Book of Jungle”.

T: Right you are. Now let’s look at some more portraits of the famous English &

3. Reading

T:  Today we are going to speak about Robert Burns, a famous Scottish poet. Let’s make a trip to Scotland. Look at the map of Great Britain. Where is Scotland situated?

S1: Scotland lies to the north of England.

T: What’s the capital of Scotland?

S: The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It lies on the seven hills. Publishing is its well - known industry. The first thing you see in Edinburgh is the Rock – a very large hill in the middle of the city. The Edinburgh castle stands on it. Many great men lived and worked in Edinburgh. R.Burns, the great Scottish poet published his first book of poems in Edinburgh. There is a monument to him in the city.

T: Look at this portrait. Let’s read the text & answer the questions of Ex. 2, p. 78

4. Speaking

T: Look at the pictures of the Highlands & describe them using nouns & adjectives of the Word Bank of Ex. 3, p. 79

S1: Scotland lies to the north of England. The most interesting and beautiful part of Scotland is the Highlands. This is mainly an industrial region. Glasgow is the third largest city in Great Britain. It lies on the river Clyde. It’s a big port. The Highlands is famous for its shipyard. It is an important centre of Scottish culture.

S2: I can see rivers, waterfalls, mountains in the pictures. There are many green trees. I like the nature in the pictures.

5. Reading & discussing

T:  What generation does R. Burns represent?

S:  R. Burns represents the generation of Romantic writes. In his poems he described with love and understanding the single life he knew. To my mind “My heart’s in the Highlands” is his best poem. He wrote:

                     “My heart’s in the Highlands,
                       My heart is not here
                       My heart’s in the Highlands
                      A chasing the deer…
                      A chasing the wild deer and
                      Following the roe -
                      My heart’s in the Highlands,
                      Wherever I go.

T:  What Ukrainian poem reminds you the poem?

S:  To my mind, it’s “My Testament” by Taras Shevchenko, a famous Ukrainian poet.  He wrote in his poem:

“When I dead them bury me
In my beloved Ukraine
My tomb upon a grave mound high
Amid the spreading plain
So that the fields, the boundless steppes,
The Dnieper’s plunging shore
The eyes could see, my ears could here
The mighty river roar.

 

6. Пояснення домашнього завдання.

  T:   Now let’s refresh the grammar material: tenses. At home you are to write

   Ex. 6, p. 80. Look at these sentences & name the tenses we are to use in them.

  1. Past Simple Passive (last)

  2. Future Simple Passive (tomorrow)

  3. Future Simple Passive (tomorrow)

  4. Past Simple Active (about William Shakespeare - past)

  5. Present Simple Active (about present time)

 6. Present Perfect Active

It’s you written task. And you are to speak about Robert Burns.

T:  I think it’s time to have a rest. Let’s sing the famous Scottish song “Auld Lang Sync”

Should auld acquaintance be forgotten,
And never brought mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgotten,
And auld Lang Sync?
For auld Lang Sync,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
For auld Lang Sync.
