викликати інтерес до творчості письменника.

ХІД ЗАХОДУ

І.Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення.

1. Greeting (Привітання).

T: Good morning, for everybody. Guys, today we will speak about a famous English playwrigth. Who is attentive, has already noticed some hints on the black-board. So, have you guessed who is this?

Sts: William Shakespeare.

T: Yes, you are right. William Shakespeare is a well-known writer. He had written 37 plays and 154 sonnets. Most of them we already know, for example Romeo and Juliet, Othello, King Lear etc.

2. Warming up (Введення в іншомовну атмосферу).

T: There is a Vocabulary on the black-board, please look through and let’s translate the words.

Vocabulary

T: Now, we are able to solve the cross-word, you have the hand-outs and let’s work.

Questions for the cross-word:

A detailed description of a person’s life (biography)
A lyrical poem, made up of 14 lines (sonnet)

1. Speaking (Розвиток навичок говоріння).

T: Dear children, I know that you have prepared some information about William Shakespeare. So, who wants to present the information?

(Students read the information, which they have prepared: biography, works of the writer, sonnets etc.)

S1: Sonnet 38 (How can my muse…)

S2: Sonnet 130 (My mistress eyes…)

T: Nice work, guys! As you know there are lots of variants of translation, so let’s compare them. Who wants to try?

2. Listening and writing (Розвиток навичок аудіювання та письма).

T: Now you are able to listen to the text and you should fill in the gaps.

Text for listening

The name of William Shakespeare is known all over the world. The last half of the 16^th and the beginning of the 17^th centuries are called «The Age of Shakespeare». The first fact of Sh`s biography are that he was born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon. His father was a dealer in corn, meat, wool. His mother was a daughter of a rich farmer in the village of Wilmcote. Being 18 years old, William married Anne Hathaway, who was 9 years older than he. They had three children, a daughter Susanna and twins – son Hamlet and daughter Judith. In 1567 Sh. went to London to find a job, where he began writing plays staged at the Globe Theatre. His great plays are: Romeo and Juliet, Othello, Hamlet, King Lear, Twelfth Night. By 1592 he had been an important member of a well-known acting company. Sh. returned to Stratford where in April 23, 1616 he died. He was buried in a fine old church in Stratford.
