London stands on the river Thames, it is not very long but it is very deep. Londoners call it “the Father of London”.

London, the capital of the UK, is a very old city. It is two thousand years old. Many years ago London was a small town which was founded by Romans and it was called “Londinium”.

Now London is a big port and a beautiful city with large squares and parks. About 7 million people live here.

And now we start our tour from Tower Bridge. It is the most famous bridge over the Thames. It is more than 100 years old.

From Tower Bridge you can see the Tower of London. Tower of London is a very old building. It is nine hundred years old. It was a fortress, a royal palace and a prison. Now it's a museum.

There are many ravens in the Tower. The English people like them very much. A man looks after the ravens and gives them food in the morning and in the evening.

Now you can see Snt. Pauls Cathedral. One of the greatest English churches, and it is not far from the Tower of London. The famous English architect Sir Christofer Wren built it after the Great Fire.

It is a beautiful building with many columns and towers.

Now we are in the centre of London – in Trafalgar Square. It is the most beautiful place in the city.

In the middle of the square you can see a tall column. It is a monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument.

The Houses of Parliament is the seat of the British government. Another name of this building is the Palace of Westminster.

There two towers in the Palace of Westminster: the Victoria Tower and the Clock Tower, another name of which is Big Ben.

Big Ben is the symbol of London.

Now we are at Buckingham Palace. The Palace is the official home of the British royal family.

When the flag is flying on the top the Queen is at home. There are almost 600 rooms in the Palace.

The ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is a great tourist attraction.

Westminster Abbey is the royal church. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. It is more than nine hundred years old.

There are so many monuments and statues there. Many English kings and queens are buried there. It is famous for the Poet's Corner.

The largest park in London is Hyde Park. It is the property of the royal family. Hyde Park is one of the most popular places of London on hot summer days.

It is famous for its Speaker’s Corner. There are many other green parks and gardens there too.
