Тема: Age and Appearance (підручник On Screen 3) 8 клас

Мета : повторити вивчені та ввести та активізувати нові ЛО такі як early-mid-late twenties, thirties etc., розвивати навички аудіювання та говоріння взявши за основу автентичний матеріал (фрагмент фільму “No Hard Feelings”), розвивати впевненість учнів в своїх силах

Хід уроку:

1. Вступна частина. Warming- up (5 хвилин)

“You can't judge book by its covering”- written on the board

T: How do you understand this proverb? What does it mean? How is it related to our appearance?

T: Good job, friends and now we are going to talk about age and appearance and by the end of the lesson you will be able to use some new words to describe people’s age and appearance. Let`s get started!

2. Основна частина уроку

1. Актуалізація вивченого матеріалу (10 хвилин)

T: Let`s make a mind map with the words related to our today’s topic. Write down these words into spider-gram into your exercise-books. Do you want to add some more? If yes, so look at the screen: (додаток 1, фото зі словами, On Screen 3, Students book, page 13). What new words can you see here? – шукаємо definitions в кінці Students book, записуємо нові слова в схему в зошиті.

T: Now make please your own sentences using some of these words

2. Pre-listening (actually pre-watching activities) (5 хвилин)

1. Introducing of new vocabulary. Matching exercise

T: Now you are going to match these words to their translation before we can watch an episode from the film “No Hard Feelings” “Без образ“(2003).

1. Early 20s a) без образ

2. Slightly older б) нещодавно

3. Recently в) 21-23 роки

4. No hard feelings г) трохи старший

T: Look at this girl. How old is she? Any ideas? Why do you think so?

Let`s translate into English using words in his/ her early, mid and late.

1. Йому 19.-He is in his late teens.

2. Їй 39- She is in her late thirties.

3. Мені 13- I am in my early teens.

4. Сему 45- Sem is in his mid fourties.

5. Олівії 52.- Olivia is in her early fifties.

2. While-listening task

T: Watch the episode and find out how old is she and of what age did the couple look for a girl.

Відповідь: She is 32. They were looking for a girl in her early 20s.

3. Shadowing (Практикуємо вимову) (5 хвилин)

T: Now let`s practice our pronunciation and you should repeat their words after them. How do they pronounce “twenty”?

3. After-listening task. Speaking (5 хвилин)

T: What kind of interview is it? What do you think? What kind of job is she applying for? Imagine you came to a job-interview: what questions are you going to hear? You have 2 minutes to write down these questions into your exercise-books.

1. Pair-work. Role play (10 хвилин)

T: Now divide into pairs and act out an interview for a job.

ІІІ. Заключна частина уроку

T: Well done boys and girls! You did a nice job! What new words have you learned today?

Your hometask will be to describe some person as in the example.
