Topic: “Household chores”

Class profile (brief description of learners; how many, age, level, etc):

There are 8 students in the class:  2 boys and 6 girls. They are 12. The students have been learning English for 6 years. There are four quick learners (Sasha, Yana, Sophia and Nika) and some slow learners (Katia, Maksym). The class is alive, active and attentive at the lessons, but most children need some additional explanations and attention. Kolia and Nastia are students who demand more motivating and teacher’s attention to make the process of learning active and productive despite the fact that they are rather intelligent and have quick brains.

Lesson aims:

Objectives:

  • to revise  and practice topical vocabulary;
  • to  give practice in listening, writing and speaking;
  • to teach the students to use the information for guessing;
  • to develop students’ creativity, team-building and leadership skills

 

Outcomes:

By the end of the lesson students will learn

the names of household utensils.

will be able:

  • to listen and discuss household chores;
  • to use vocabulary in the live situation.

 

Syllabus fit:

Students have learned a lot on the topic: topical vocabulary, verb tenses, how to write a notice. They can make up sentences to describe their household chores.

 

Materials/resources used:

Sheets of paper and markers for listening and writing activities, stripes of paper with the words for the communicative situation, students’ Power Point projects, real objects for household supplies, video for listening and singing.

Assumptions:

The learners have already known the topical vocabulary, read and write the notices, make up short talks on the topic.

 

Anticipated problems and solutions:

Some activities are new for learners so they will need detailed instructions. Slow learners may feel lack of knowledge so they need to be guided by the teacher and other students.
