I Introduction . Theme, objectives.
T. Good morning, children. I’m glad to see you today happy and healthy.
From the ancient times people wanted to explore other countries. They used primitive transport, they spent much time to get somewhere and tried , tried, tried.
To whatever part of the world you went
By wheel or sail, or wing, or track
You’ll have exciting things to tell
Now that you are safely back.
So, today we are going to make a very enjoyable trip to a wonderful country , situated on a wet cold island. We shall marvel the beauty of the capital- London and see its sights . So the theme of our lesson is ‘’A trip to London”.
II Warm-up
T. W. Shakespeare wrote ‘’I hope to see London , before I die’’. By the way , have ever thought to visit London. If ‘’yes’,’ give some reasons.
P. I hope to see Trafalgar square with the monument of Admiral Nelson
P. As for me I would like to see the river Thames ‘’The father of London’’, as they say
P. I am attracted by the Buckingham Palace, Queen’s residence and I want to see the Guard.

T. We are at the map of Great Britain and make a short tour here.
P1Great Britain or As we say The United Kingdom of great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated off the northwest coast of Europe between the Atlantic Ocean on the north and northwest and the North sea on the east. It separates from the Continent by the English Channel. Great Britain , the largest island in Europe , contains England, Scotland, and Wales. Each of these parts has the capitals. The capital of Great Britain is London, stands on the river Thames. It is also the main port. The rose is the emblem of England.
The Union Flag, approved in1801, is a combination of the banners of England (St. George’s flag which has a red cross with extended horizontals on a white field),Scotland (St, Andrew’s flag which has a white cross on a blue field), Ireland (St. Patrick’s flag which has a red cross on a white field). The arms of the crosses do not meet at the center. The flag is known as the Union Jack.
T. In the history of London there are many places connected with the Royal Family. Buckingham Palace is the London residence of monarch. The ceremony of changing Guard takes place daily at 11 o’clock in the morning and attracts many tourists. The Royal Standard flying over Buckingham Palace is the sign that the Queen is in the residence. The absence of the Royal Standard over the east front of Palace means that Queen is absent from London.
P2.Buckingam Palace is the official London residence of the Queen. It was built in the 18th century and rebuilt later by the architect John Nash . He began his work in1825 , but the palace was not completed until 1837. The first Queen to live there was the young Queen Victoria. Above the State Entrance is the central balcony where the Royal Family appear on occasions of national importance. Royal Horse Guard ceremony always arouses the interest of visitors. They specially come to the Palace means that the Queen is the absent from London. There are 600 rooms there, 300 clocks.
T. Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Britain.

As the river Mississippi called ‘’The farther of water’’, the Thames is called ‘’The father of London”. The history of London began on the river Thames.

T. We are in the heart of the capital- the City of London. This Tower Bridge , the most striking of all London’s bridges. It was built in 1894, but even today Tower Bridge regulates a large part of the impressive traffic of the port of London.

T. The City is the oldest part of the capital. Among the historic buildings is the Tower of London, situated on the north bank of the Thames and was built in 1087. The history of London closely connected with the Tower.

And now , we are in Trafalgar Square . It was named Trafalgar Square to commemorate the historical naval victory won on the 21 of October 1805 by the British Fleet under admiral Nelson. This impressive moment is 170 feet tall(52m)

T .In front of you , you can see the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The Palace of Westminster usually knows as the Houses of Parliament dates only from 19th century. The Palace used both as a royal residence and as a parliament house until 1512.

T. London’s West End is the richest part of the City and its heart is Piccadilly Circus. It is the meeting point of 6 streets. It is famous for its brightly lit neon advertisements at night. Under the circus lies one of the busiest stations of London’s underground railway network.
