Procedure
I. Introduction
1. Warm up
Do you think we are happy inhabitants on our planet Earth? Why (not)?
Do we face any problems leading our way of life?
What environmental problems can you think of?
(Students go to the board in turns and write the problems they know. For example: overpopulation)

Do you think we can do anything before it’s too late?
II. Main Body
So today our task is to be able to write an essay providing solutions to problems.
Let’s read the tip and be ready to answer some of the questions.
(Meanwhile 2 students with higher level have an individual task. Their task is to read the text do multiple choice and be ready to speak about the main idea of the text. It’s about endangered species)
All the rest are answering the questions using the information from the tip.
2 students who were working individually are ready with their task, they hand in their papers and speak about the main idea of the text. It’s about endangered species.
So, we are going to read text in Ex.1 p.64
Reading
Read the rubric, underline the key words and discuss your ways of solving the problem: How can we make our planet a safer place for animals? Work in pairs.
What words can you think of related to the title of the article?
Read the article and put the paragraphs in the correct order.

Answer the questions.
Ex. 3 p.65
Work in pairs. Read the extracts below. Which are beginnings? Which are endings? Which writing technique has been used in each?
A What would you like to lean about in school? In my opinion schools should focus on practical skills as well as on academic subjects. (beginning – addressing the reader directly)
B All in all, I think that banning cars from the city centre is an excellent idea. It will make shopping safer and healthier for pedestrians as well as reducing traffic jams. What more could the people of this city want? (ending – rhetorical question)

Writing

Your teacher has asked you to write an article for the school magazine entitled: “How can we reduce air pollution levels in our cities?” (120-170 words)
Work in groups, collect ideas and write 1group- beginning, 2 group- ending of the article in the rubric. (5-10 min)
Present your pieces of writing to the class.
Speaking
Let’s have the competition between two groups. The quicker group is the winner. Match the causes of the pollution to the suggested solutions and results. And complete the table on the board.

III. Conclusion
So, one group has the beginning, the second one – the ending, you can exchange the ideas. The main body is here on the blackboard. You can take a photo of it with the help of your phones.
At home you are suggested to use all necessary information from our lesson and write an essay about air pollution and the ways to reduce it.
