Тема уроку “Family Relationship”

Тип уроку: узагальнюючий.

Навчальна мета: повторити та узагальнити лексико-граматичний матеріал з теми, розвивати навички усного та писемного мовлення,  повторити вживання умовних речень І, ІІ, ІІІ типів, вчити висловлювати  свої власні думки, розвивати культуру усних висловлювань при захисті своїх проектів, роботі з тестами, використовуючи андроїдні пристрої.

Розвиваюча мета: розвивати пізнавальну активність учнів, розширювати їхній кругозір, розвивати навички співробітництва через роботу в групах,  вчити досліджувати, аналізувати та узагальнювати матеріал, робити висновки.

Виховна мета: розширювати кругозір дітей, виховувати повагу до членів своєї родини, сімейних цінностей.

Обладнання: інтерактивна дошка, роздатковий матеріал, учнівські презентації, публікації, веб-сайти, блоги, учительська презентація, андроїдні пристрої.

Lesson Procedure( Хід уроку)

І. Introduction

Teacher:  Good morning, dear pupils! I’m very glad to greet you at our today’s lesson and I hope it will be interesting and useful for you. You will be able to clarify some important questions and problems and try to find some ways to solve them.  And I want you to watch this video-episode to define the theme of our today’s lesson.

II. Warming-up.

Teacher: What problem is clarified here?

What caused such a situation?

If Sarah had been a caring daughter, would she have had the same situation with her own daughter?

What would you do if you were Sarah? Her mother?

Can you say that your relationships with your parents are better? Why do you think so?

And can you guess the theme of our today’s lesson?

Teacher: Yes, you are right. Today we are going to speak about family relationship and problems modern families face today. And I hope this lesson will help you to refresh your knowledge of topical words and expressions. You will be able to share your points of view on this or that subject, find solutions to different family problems, present your own projects, have some practice in using Conditionals I, II, III and doing tests. We’ll try to answer such questions:

1. Is a family important in people’s life?

2. What are the main family problems?

3. Why do people get married and very often divorce?

4. What are the main problems of young people?

5. What is “Generation gap”?

6. What should be done to make families happier?

I am sure this lesson will be interesting and useful for you.

III. Main part

Teacher: there is a famous saying: “Having a place to go- is a home, having someone to love- is a family, having both- is a blessing” Do you agree with it?What does a family mean to you?

III. 1. Matching the definitions with the words

Teacher: To be successful in our work, let's review the material we’ve already learnt. So, you will receive these cards and your task is to match the definitions with the words. Work in group. In some minutes you will see the right answers on the slide and you will check yourselves.

(Учні в групах підбирають слова до визначень. Обмінюються результатами з іншими групах. Правильні відповіді демонструються на слайді вчительської презентації)

Teacher: Well done. And now try to ask questions, using these words and word-combinations. (Учень виходить до дошки, діти по черзі ставлять йому запитання, використовучи повторену лексику)

III. 2. Presentation of projects

Teacher: I think  all happy families are alike, but I am sure that every unhappy one is unhappy in its own way. Do you agree with me? What are the most common topics of arguing in families?

Pupils: - generation gap

 - family breakdown

 - misunderstanding

 - alcoholism

 - money

Teacher: Yes, there are many problems. But today we’ll discuss only three main ones:

 generation gap

 marriages and divorces

 youth problems

Teacher: Someone once said: “A family breakdown is a small death”. Each marriage breakdown means pain. Without a family, a man, alone in the world, trembles in the cold. But in our country every second couple separates. The first group of students has learnt this family problem. Let’s listen to them.

Teacher: Thank you for your work! Have you got any questions?  Well, the second group of our students has worked with the problem сalled  “Youth Problems”.  Please, come to the blackboard and present your project.

 I dare say that almost all families - happy and unhappy - have the same problem. It has been known since Turgenev's time. In his novel he came to the conclusion that the problem really exists. What do we call this problem? (Ss: generation gap.) What is the name of his novel? (Fathers and Sons)

So, the last group has learnt this problem and is ready to show their presentation.

V. Lexical and Grammar Test.  The use of the Conditionals (Виконання тестів, використовуючи андроїдні пристрої)

Teacher: Before the beginning of this work I want you to revise the rule connected with the grammar structures “The first, the second, the third conditionals”. It will help you to cope with a test more easily.

(Учні повторюють утворення І, ІІ, ІІІ типів умовних речень, виконують завдання на повторення правила, виконують тест)

V. Reflection (Інтерактивна вправа «Уявний мікрофон»).

Teacher: Before the end of our lesson I’d like to ask you some questions:

1) What are your impressions of our lesson?

2) Was it interesting for you to discuss the theme of family problems?

4) What have you found out for yourself?

5) What family values have we defined?
