Мета: створити умови для  активізації  лексичних  одиниць з теми «Seasons and weather»  і для удосконалення  навичок читання, аудіювання, усного мовлення;                                   

спонукати до розвитку логічного та образного мислення учнів і формуванню навичок роботи в парах і групах.

Сприяти формуванню  предметних компетентностей з іноземної мови.

Обладнання: підручник, робочий зошит, картки для роботи в парах, тематичні картки,  текст для аудіювання “Seasons”,  роздруковані зразки текстів для домашнього завдання, мультимедійний проектор для прослуховування пісні «Spring, summer, autumn, winter”.

І. Орієнтація, мотивація діяльності.

Інтелектуальна розминка Game  Board Race     “SEASONS”

• Split the class into two or three teams.
• Draw a line down the middle of the board and write a topic at the top.
• The students must then write as many words as you require related to the topic in the form of a relay race.
• Each team wins one point for each correct word. Any words that are unreadable or misspelled are not counted.

T:  The topic of today’s lesson is “Seasons and weather”.  And the motto is:

We should be thankful together

Whatever the weather.

Today we continue speaking about seasons of the year, month and weather.

You’ll also practice your oral speech and listening.

T:  So, let’s start our lesson. I wish you to be creative! I wish you to be successful!

Children, look out of the window and tell me, please “What is the weather like today?”

• Is it warm or cold today?
• Is it windy today?
• Is the sun shining?
• What season is it now?
• What month is it now?
• What are spring months?
• Do you like spring?

 T: Let’s listen to me and try to guess riddles about seasons and weather

 1  - A little old man with 12 children some short, some long, some hot, some cold. What is it?       ( a year)

 2    - We are 12 little men who make the year go.                                                                              Starting over again.                                                                                                                                    We are 12 little men. T:  You have to match eight pictures of basic weather to the correct word: cloudy, sunny, partly cloudy, windy, rainy, snowy, stormy and lightning. 

3.  Робота в групах.

T: Nоw lеt’s work in groups. Yоu аre dіvided іnto two groups. Thе fіrst group is the

“ SPRING BIRDS” аnd thе sеcond one is thе “FIRST FLOWERS”. We have a lot of sentences on the board. Yоur tаsk is to match them with the seasons and translate. Thе wіnner оf thе gаme іs thаt tеam whіch do this task without mіstakes.

1.The days slowly cool down and get shorter and shorter.

2. It can be sunny one moment and rainy the next.

3. The leaves are yellow, red, orange and brown.

4. We can swim in the sea.

5. It’s freezing cold.

6. Snow melts and flowers bloom.

7. It’s often foggy and windy.

8. It’s a season of thunderstorms.

9. It’s time when the birds build their nests.

10. You can gather mushrooms.

11. The weather is hot.

12. We can play ski and skate.

13. It’s cool, wet and cloudy.

14. Snowflakes dance in the air.

15. Children don’t go to school.

16. Everything looks so beautiful in its colorful dress.

17. Everything looks so beautiful, everything is in blossom.

18. The days get longer and longer.

4. Listening

T: I have a very interesting text about seasons. Let’s listen to  it and  then do some tasks.                                                      

Seаsons

There lived four sisters long ago. They were seasons. Their names were Spring, Summer, Autumn and  Winter. Every sister had three sons – their three months. Spring had March, April and May. Summer had June, July and August. Autumn had September, October and November. And Winter had December, January and February. They always lived happily.                                                                                          But one day Summer told, “Autumn and Winter, you are absolutely useless! Spring and me work hard and you don’t work at all”.

“ When Winter comes, children only play snowballs, make snowmen, skate and ski”, Spring added.

“When Autumn comes, it always rains!” – said the Summer.

The war between four sisters began. Suddenly, a famous magician, named the Sun, came to visit them. He said: “Stop fighting! You mustn’t do it! Every season is beautiful and useful! If you don’t stop your fighting, your kingdom will disappear!”

All sisters understood that the Sun was right and stopped the war.

T: So, we’ve just read about the magician in the text.

- What is it? 

- Why did the war between four sisters begin?

- What did the Sun say?

T: Now, read the sentences after the text and correct the mistakes.

1. There lived three sisters long ago.

2. Every sister had three daughters – their three months.

3. Spring told that Summer and Winter are useless.

4. When Winter comes, children only go to school.

5. It always rains in Spring.

6. The war between two sisters began.

7. One day the Moon came to visit them.

T: I’d like to finish our lesson with the English proverb: There is no bad weather there are bad clothes. 

It means that all seasons, all kinds of weather are beautiful. Every season is good in its own way. Each person likes this or that season.
