Урок з англійської мови у 5 класі на тему "Аксесуари" спрямований на розвиток навичок читання. Учні ознайомлюються з лексикою з теми, читають короткий текст і виконують завдання на розуміння прочитаного. Після читання вони описують власні улюблені аксесуари, що сприяє розвитку зв’язного мовлення. Урок проходить у формі гри, з використанням візуальних матеріалів, що підтримує інтерес і мотивацію дітей. Завершується урок рефлексією та творчим домашнім завданням.

Learning objectives:

By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:

  • recognize and name common accessories in English;
  • understand a short descriptive text about accessories;
  • develop reading comprehension through skimming and scanning;
  • express simple preferences about accessories

 

Lesson stages

 

1. Warm-up

Aim: to activate background knowledge and set the context
Activity:

Teacher shows pictures of accessories (hat, scarf, sunglasses, backpack, belt, ...).

Ask learners:

What is this?

Do you wear this? When?

Which one do you like?

 

2. Lead-in

Aim: to introduce the topic and key vocabulary
Activity:

Use flashcards or a short PowerPoint with 6–8 accessories and names.

Learners repeat the words after the teacher.

Play a quick game: “Touch the accessory!” – show pictures and learners touch/point.

 

3. Pre-reading

Aim: to prepare learners for reading
Activity:

Predict the text:

Show a title and a picture from the text (“Tom’s favourite accessories”)

Ask: Who is Tom? What do you think he likes?

Pre-teach 3–4 key words: “wear,” “favourite,” “use,” “cool”

 

4. Reading

Aim: to practice reading for gist and details
Text example:
A short text (5–7 sentences) about a boy describing what accessories he wears in summer and winter and why he likes them.
Tasks:

Task 1: Read and choose the correct picture (out of 3)

Task 2: True or false (3–4 sentences)

Task 3 (optional): Fill in the gaps with missing words from the text

5. Post-reading

Aim: to personalize the topic and use the vocabulary
Activity options:

Pair work: “Ask and answer”

What is your favourite accessory?

When do you wear it?

What colour is it?

Draw and describe: learners draw their favourite accessory and write 2–3 simple sentences

 

6. Homework

Aim: to reinforce vocabulary and writing
Task:

Write 3–5 sentences about your favourite accessory (with a small drawing)

Example: I like my red scarf. I wear it in winter. It is warm and soft.

 

7. Feedback and reflection

Aim: to reflect on learning and check understanding
Activity:

Thumbs up/down: Did you like the text? Was it easy/hard?

Ask: What new word did you learn today?

Quick review quiz: show 3 accessories and ask:

What is this?

Do you wear it in summer or winter?
