MY SCOOL DAYS
Objectives: 1.to encourage pupils to speak about interesting and boring lessons, importance of studying English, the difficulties pupils may have while learning English.
2. to develop pupils' reading, speaking, listening and writing skills;
3. to practice the vocabulary about school and school subjects;
4. to develop pupils' ability to work in pairs;
5. to motivate pupils to learn English;
Equipment: text books, handouts, posters, flashcards, computer, video presentation
Lesson Procedure
I. The beginning of the lesson.
1. Greeting and aim.
T: Stand up, please! Good morning, dear children!
P: Good morning, teacher!
T: Nice to see you! How are you?

2. The presentation of the topic and aim of the lesson.
T: Sit down, please. Let’s begin our English lesson. The theme of our lesson is “My school days”. Today we’ll
- speak about your favourite subject;
- revise the names of different school subjects;
- do listening activity;
- speak about the importance of learning English;
- practice the grammar.
3. Warming up.
T: So, dear children’s, do you like songs? Let’s listen and sing the song according to the theme of our lesson.

T: Have you guessed? Now let’s speak about your favourite school subjects. So tell me what is your favourite school subject? Why do you like it? How do you study this subject?
1. My favourite subject is History. In History we learn about the things and people from the past. We can hear fascinating stories about what life was like before. We read about heroes and battles. But we must learn some years, too.
2. My favourite subject is Geography. In Geography we learn about our planet, about other planets and stars. We also learn about rivers, lakes, mountains, continents, countries and cities from all over the world. Of course, we need a map and a globe.
3. My favourite subject is Science. In Science we learn about nature: all living creatures on our planet — plants, animals, and people. We learn what they eat, where they live, how they grow. We can even do some experiments.
4. My favourite subject is IT. In IT we learn everything about computers and how to use them. It is fun because we sometimes play games. But we can also chat with our friends or find many interesting things on the Internet.
5. My favourite subject is Maths. In Maths you work with numbers. You do all sorts of mathematical calculations. You add numbers (two plus two is four), subtract numbers (four minus three is one), multiply numbers (two times six is twelve) or divide numbers (ten divided by two is five). But that’s not all. There are many more things you can do with numbers.
6. My favourite subject is PE. In PE you really have fun because you play different sports. During the class you are not in the classroom but in the gym or in the school playground. You need sneakers and special clothes.
7. My favourite subject is English. In English we learn to read, write and speak. We learn the History and Geography of our country, Great Britain and the USA. We read stories in English, watch films and listen to songs and understand them. But what is more important, we shall speak with people from other countries and we'll understand each other.
Task №5
I think all school subjects are important for our future life. But today we are going to speak about the importance of studying English. Let’s meet our guests, they will tell us why they need English in their daily life. Take the cards, you need to listen very attentively our guests and fill in the cards choosing the correct answers. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO KNOW ENGLISH?
1) Good morning. My name is Pavlo and I am a businessman. I have business partners in different countries and we discuss our problems with the help of English. I have to know this language because I often read and write very important business documents.
2) Hello, my name is Natalia. I am an air hostess and I fly to many different countries. Our passengers are from different countries, too, but they understand English well. I have to know English because I must understand their questions and answer them. The knowledge of English helps me to make my passengers feel comfortable on the plane.
3) Hi, I am Borys and I am a writer. I write books about History and the life of people in the past. But before I write a new book I have to study many historical facts and read a lot of literature. Many books are in English and I have to understand them. That’s why I must know English to find interesting facts and to write good books.
4) My name is Olena. I’m a teacher of Science and I work at University. There are a lot of students from other countries who study here. I have to know English to teach foreign students because they all understand this language and speak it well.
T: - Tell me please why do you need to learn English?
P1: - I learn English because I want to read foreign literature in the original. I know and like such English and American writers as Charles Dickens, Mark Twain and others.
P2: - I like to travel. But it is difficult to visit countries, when you don't know the language of these countries. I would like to travel to the UK.
P3: - There are a lot of films in English. I want to understand films without any help.
P4: - I learn English because I want to get a good job.
3.Listening Comprehension.
A. Pre-Listening Activity.
T: Open your books p60 ex6. Open your exercise books and write the date. Would you like to study and behave well? (yes, we would like) Then listen to the song “RECIPE FOR A GOOD PUPIL”. While listening to the song you must fill in the missing words. Work in pairs.
