Use the sunscreen on the beach.
Call the fire station when there is a smoke in the house.
When your clothes are on fire, you should stop, drop, and roll.
Always lock the door when you leave the house.
It’s not safe to leave candles burning when you go to bed.
3. Main part
1. Grammar revision (The present continuous tense and Imperative – slides)
-
Present continuous: "He is wearing a helmet." "They are crossing the street."
-
Imperative: "Wear your seatbelt." "Don’t play with matches." “You should be careful with knives.” “You shouldn’t sit too close to the fireplace.”
-
Practise using the slides.
2. Game “Read and show”
-
Let’s make two teams. Each team gets cards with some safety rules and has to show them one by one. Another team should guess the rule.
For example: Don’t play with matches. Be careful with jellyfish in the sea.
Team 1:
Use the sunscreen on the beach.
When your clothes are on fire, you should stop, drop, and roll.
Fasten your seatbelt when you are in the car.
Watch out for dogs!
You should walk up and down the stairs.
Don’t touch the oven/hob when it’s hot.
Team 2:
Call the firestation when there is a smoke in the house.
Always lock the door when you leave the house.
Wear a helmet when riding a bike.
Keep your hands on handlebars.
Don’t jump on the bed.
Be careful with knives!
3. Interactive Activity: Safety Rules Role-Play
Let’s make up 3 groups.
-
Each group gets a scenario where you need to demonstrate and speak about a safety rule (crossing the street, riding a bike, being safe at home).
-
Each group has to create a short role-play using the vocabulary and grammar.
-
Present your role-plays to the class.
