10 ways to...use email effectively

Результат пошуку зображень за запитом "email and communication"

Email is a very convenient communication tool, but it can present all manner of pitfalls, from the bad impression created by sloppy grammar to problems caused by hitting 'Send' before thinking your message through. Here are ten tips to help you use email more effectively.

1. Keep your message brief. It's more difficult to read from a computer screen than from a printed document, so use short paragraphs and bullet points to break up text and highlight key points.

2. Know your audience. Corresponding with customers requires a more formal tone than emailing colleagues.

3. Don't forget to proof-read. Emails with spelling mistakes or lazy grammar make your business look slapdash, and bad punctuation can make messages difficult to read.

4. Avoid sending unnecessary attachments. If you have a lot of files to send, compress or 'zip' them.

5. Respond swiftly. After receiving an email, send a brief acknowledgment ahead of a full response.

6. Stop and think before you press 'Send'. Never send an email in anger and don't send anything that you wouldn't be comfortable seeing published – emails do not always end up where you intend them to go.

7. Don't pass on junk mail. Chain letters, emails promising good fortune or just plain old spam are unlikely to be welcomed so it's best just to delete them.

8. Blind copy with care. Try not to get into the habit of concealing recipients from one another for deceptive reasons using the 'blind copy' facility – it is underhand and could harm your business relationships. 9. Use a clear, concise signature. Record your name, job title, company address, website and telephone number at the bottom of your emails to look serious and professional.

10. Consider a disclaimer. Adding a disclaimer to the end of your emails may protect your business from liability if your employees make defamatory statements in messages.

A.  At first cricket was popular among poor young workers and later the game became popular among rich people.

CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR POWER STATION

On April 26, 1986 one of the history’s worst nuclear accident occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power station in Ukraine. At 1:23 AM, technicians at the plant allowed the power in the 4th reactor to fall to low levels as part of a controlled experiment, which went terribly wrong. The reactor overheated and caused a meltdown of the core. This resulted in an explosive force of steam, which blew off the lid of the reactor. Large amounts of the radioactive materials were released into the atmosphere. The reactor-4 explosions released more radioactivities that the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. Most of the discharged material was deposited close by as dust and debris, but wind carries the lighter radioactive material over the Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and parts of Europe.

The operator’s over-confident decision-making, a flaw in the design of the reactor and inadequate safety systems are believed to be the major factors that caused the Chernobyl disaster. Many people were affected by this catastrophe. The accident caused 31 immediate deaths that were mainly the result of exposure the radiation. The main casualties were among those who fought the fires caused by the explosion. Once the fires were extinguished, a liquidating crew of around 200,000 people was initially employed to clean up the site. Later the number swelled to 600,000. This crew was exposed to high doses of radiation, which might affect their health in the long run.

Many children in the surrounding areas are developed thyroid cancer due to the radiation emitted. Many Ukrainians, Russians and Belarusians were evacuated and later given new homes in a different area.

Today reactor-4 is buried in cement tomb which was quickly built in order to allow the other reactors at the power station to continue working. However, this shelter is not strong and will not last and there are plants to replace it. Many people have suffered in some way as a result of the Chernobyl disaster and millions of dollars are still being spent today to contain reactor-4 and assure that no further radiation leakage occurs.

16, 1990 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine. On August 24,1991, Ukraine’s independence and the formation of the independent state of Ukraine was proclaimed by the Ukrainian Parliament.

On December 1,1991, an all-Ukrainian referendum was held, involving 84.18 percent of citizens.

Winning 61.6 percent of the votes, L.Kravchuk, the former head of the Verkhovna Rada, was elected President of Ukraine.

In 1994 L.Kuchma won the Presidential elections and became the new President of Ukraine.

A new state, Ukraine, appeared on the world political map in 1991. It is a democratic state, which is ruled by the law. It includes 24 administrative regions and the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea. Ukraine has its own Constitution, which was adopted in 1996. The Constitution of Ukraine consists of 15 chapters (161 articles). The day of its adoption (June, 28, 1996) is a state holiday – the Day of the Constitution of Ukraine.

The political system of Ukraine is really democratic. The powers of the Government are divided into legislative, executive and judicial. The President is the head of the state. He is elected for a term of five years. The highest body of the executive power is the Cabinet of Ministers. It is responsible to the President and is accountable to the Verkhovna Rada. It carries out domestic and foreign policy of the state.

The Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) is the only body of the legislative power in Ukraine. It includes 450 deputies who are elected for a term of four years. The Verkhovna Rada adopts the State Budget and controls the execution of it.

Judicial power in Ukraine is led by the Supreme Court.

There are very many political parties in Ukraine. The main parties are: the Social Democratic Party, the People’s Rukh of Ukraine, the Batkivshchyna, the Communist Party, the Women of Ukraine.

The National Emblem of Ukraine is a Golden Tryzub (trident) on a blue shield. The National Flag of Ukraine is a rectangular cloth with two horizontal stripes of equal width, the upper colored blue and the lower golden yellow. The National Anthem has been performed since January 1992 (music by M.M.Verbytsky).

The National Holiday, Independence Day, is celebrated on August 24.
