Listening “A cottage in the village”
Objectives: - To develop listening, reading, speaking, writing skills;
Materials: flashcards, recording.
PROCEDURE
Warming up: Pupils sit in a circle and greet each other wishing to be confident, happy, relaxed, motivated...
Ex: - How are you?
Introduction :
* Explain to the students that they will be listening to the story about a man.
* Ask the students what they think the story will be about by looking at the picture
and the words on the board.
(countryside, man, curiosity, house, voice, friendly, guy)
* Explain to the students that while listening the record, they will listen to the
following phrases.
* Write the phrases on the board.
*Let the students to read the explanations of the phrases to understand their
meanings.
Take over (curiosity) = to have/gain a control of smth
(Hair) stand on end = to cause smb to be very frightened
Take to somebody (straight away) = to start to like smb
Turn down to be = to find smth/to turn up
Activity 1: Listen to the recording and choose the correct answer A/B/C
Activity 2: - Split the group into two teams. While listening the recording the second time, the students match the cards.

Activity 4: - Students of two teams prepare the retelling of the story close to the text using phrases as a plan, adding additional information from the recording. They write their retelling on the poster and then represent it. The task is to present more detailed information.
