Topic: interview
Age of the students: 15-17. The pupils study the related topics in the 9-11th forms.
Objectives:
-
learners will be introduced to the structure of the interviewing process, the preparation for it and the sample questions asked by employers;
-
by the end of the activities learners will review the vocabulary needed for this event, they will be aware of what they should do and what should be avoided during the interview.
Materials: handouts
21st century skills involved: critical thinking, creativity, communication, flexibility
Procedures:
-
stage 1: learners work in small groups discussing questions by employers and to employers (during two lessons, 10-15 minutes)
-
stage 2: the interview itself. An employer is a teacher. The questions are on the pieces of paper on the table. Learners come in turn to the employer, pick randomly several questions and give their answers. As far as a real interview lasts 30 minutes it’s impossible to reproduce it with every student in its full extent, that’s why a teacher chooses the best way for his class.
Activity evaluation: informal, self and peer assessment
