Education in the UK, the USA and Ukraine

Objectives:  to activate students` knowledge of the subject;

  to develop the ability to work in groups;

  to teach students to feel responsible for doing work well;

  to use gained skills and knowledge in practice.

Procedure:

  1. Introduction

I`m glad to see you all. Today we will watch the competition among two teams on the theme “Education in the UK, the USA, and Ukraine”.

Let`s pass on to the presentation of our teams. Tell us the name of your team and your slogan.

You have to follow the rules. They are the following…

  1. Speak English.
  2. Respect others
  3. Wait your turn.
  4. Don`t shout out the answers.
  5. Answers have to be complete.

 

II. Main part

 

 Round 1. Warming up. Each team has to answer 3 questions.

How much do you know about our school?

  1. How many students are there in our school?
  2. How many teachers are there in our school?
  3. How many teachers are teaching you?
  4. How many lessons a week do you have?
  5. Do you know the full name of our secretary?
  6. Where was this picture taken?

 

Round 2. Vocabulary practice.

 Match to halves to make the phrase

The student of our school has a task for you. You`ll hear the definition of three words; your task is to guess these words and write them on paper.  (the teacher shows the video)

  1. There are many subjects you have to learn at school. This science studies a system of communication that consists of sounds and written symbols. People use it for talking or writing.
