1. Lucky to see you here in the supermarket. You are running some errands, aren’t you?

2. Yeah, my Mum asked me to pick up some vegetables. Why?

1. I’m going to throw a party at the weekend and you are invited.

2. Thanks a lot. I’ll certainly come. Shall I bring some food?

1. No, I’m going to buy some ready-made food or choose something from a takeaway menu and serve it on posh plates.

2. Really? I guess you aren’t a great fan of cooking, are you.

1. Not at all. I can’t do anything in the kitchen. I can’t even boil an egg. I can grate some cheese, but as for cooking – no way.

2. Come on, Ben. A great number of culinary TV programmes and blogs have appeared recently. Many celebrity chefs share their ideas to inspire us to take up cooking. 

1. I once tried to follow a recipe for a meat dish and burned a saucepan. It’s not my cup of tea. What about you?

2. As for me I never miss a chance to watch cookery programmes and learn about food pairing.

1. Food pairing? What’s that?

2. It’s the science of combining different ingredients to create original tastes.

1. I see. Last week I visited a new Italian restaurant in S. Street. I found the atmosphere just perfect.  Most of the food I tasted was truly terrific and looked out of this world. I was over the moon about the meal I was served.

2. The chef knows his cuisine very well, I think. I’ve heard the restaurant is so popular that it’s difficult to book a table.

1. Yeah. The menu is first class with lots of different dishes and the waiter appears immediately to take your order. In a nutshell I really recommend it.

2. I can’t say a bad word about this restaurant but to my mind it must be very expensive.

1. You are right. Eating out saves your time but you spend a lot of money. Now I’m pretty eager to learn how to cook and feel confident about cooking.
