    - Today we are going to speak about food traditions in different parts of the world.

- As I have promised at the beginning of our lesson today we are going to find out eating habits of different countries. Now I want to show you what people in different countries eat for breakfast. Some of you has got cards with names of the dish and its description (Додаток В). Be ready to read when you see its picture on the screen. (показ слайдів)

The pride of Italian cuisine is Cappuccino – a cup of coffee with fluffed milk.

(Гордістю італійської  кухні є  капучино – чашка кави зі  взбитим  молоком.)

 

Cheese belongs to the ancient natural products, made by a man. Cheese was prized at all times: as food for every day and as a dish for a special occasion. (Сир належить до стародавніх натуральних продуктів, створених людиною. Сир цінували в усі часи, і як продукт на кожен день, і як страва для особливого випадку.)

 

Sushi is a traditional Japanese snack, which consists of sliced fish, vegetables or seafood,  rice boiled in a special way, sometimes wrapped in water leaves. (Суші – традиційна японська закуска, яка складається з тонко нарізаного філе риби, овочів або морепродуктів, звареного особливим шляхом рису, іноді завернутого у листя водоростей.)

А hamburger is a bun with a chopped fried cutlet and different raw or fried vegetables inside. It belongs to fast food. (Гамбургер – це булка з рубленою смаженою котлетою та сирими або смаженими овочами. Належить до класу їжі швидкого приготування)

 

A croissant is a traditional French dish, usually eaten for breakfast. (Круасан – це традиційна французька страва, яку зазвичай вживають на сніданок.)

 

The first ideas about cooking pizzas belong to ancient Greeks. Only in the 19^th century a baker from Naples began to sell first modern pizzas. Today pizza is a really international dish. (Перші ідеї щодо приготування піци належать стародавнім грекам. Лише в 19 столітті пекар з Наполю почав продавати першу сучасну піцу. Сьогодні піца – це дійсно міжнародна страва.)

 

Porridge helps a person to be healthy and keep fit. It is a natural product full of vitamins and minerals. (Каші допомагають людині бути здоровою та тримати себе у формі. Це природний продукт, повний вітамінів та мінералів)

 

Borsch is a variety of first dishes, it is a vegetable dish (often with meat or mushrooms), especially popular among peoples of Eastern Europe. (Борщ – це різновидність перших страв, це овочева страва (часто з м’ясом або грибами), особливо популярний серед народів Східної Європи.)

Pelmeni is a dish of Russian cuisine, looking like boiled product with chopped meat or fish inside. (Пельмені – це блюдо російської кухні, у вигляді відварених виробів з начинкою рубленого м’яса або риби.)

Coca Cola  was ________ in 1886 by a chemist, who lived in Atlanta, in the South of the USA. (Its name comes from two of its ingredients- coca leaves and kola nuts.)  This man tried to _______ Coca Cola as a medicine. He ________ his customers that it was good for headaches. In 1888, a man called Asa Candler  __________ the recipe for this medicine. He _______  to sell it, not as a medicine but as a drink. In 1892, he spent $ 12,000 on advertising it. The Coca Cola advertising campaign hasn't _________ since then! And it has worked brilliantly. Coke has been the most popular drink in the USA for more than sixty years.

In 1941, when the USA entered Word War II, American soldiers began to _________ all over the world .The President of the Coca Cola Company promised to send their favourite drink wherever they went, Five billion bottles of Coke were _______ around the world to the soldiers! And that's why, since the War, Coke has been famous everywhere.
