HALLOWEEN THROUGH GRAMMAR

AIMS: train grammar skills, cooperate with classmates, use gadgets.

EQUIPMENT: squares with the tasks, QR codes on orange sheets of paper, blanks with tasks and schemes, music, cakes or cookies. The classroom is decorated with Halloween projects or pictures, students wear Halloween costumes or elements.

PROCEDURE

TEACHER: Good morning, dear students. Halloween is coming! Today we’re having a grammar lesson but every task is about this mystery holiday.

  1. I ask you to make three teams and choose the names. They must be associated with Halloween (в залежності від кількості учнів у класі краще створювати групи максимум до 5 учасників, учні можуть самі обрати партнерів або ж учитель по розрахунку від 1 до 5, об’єднуючи «одинички», «двійки» і т.д. Назви команд учитель пише на дошці, щоб вносити бали за виконані завдання).
  2. Look at the blackboard. You can see six colourful squares. There are some hidden tasks written there.

Teacher asks one of the students come to the blackboard and turn over one of the colourful squares. The student reads it. The teacher gives blanks with instructions to each team.

 

  • QR codes

a) Look around the classroom. There are some orange sheets of paper on the walls. 1-2 students from each team must find out six sentences about Halloween. Use QR readers on your mobile phones.

b) The other students from each team must rewrite these six sentences from QR codes and complete them with correct question tags.
