Lesson 1

Topic: «OUR COLOURFUL WORLD»

Aims:

Practical: to form language competence in listening and speaking; to develop listening comprehension; to teach the pupils to identify and to understand the names of the colours.

Developing: to develop pupils': memory, imagination, logical thinking.

Up-bringing: to motivate pupils in learning a foreign language; to bring up love for reading tales.

Equipment: a tape-recorder, bright visuality, a ball, toy-animals, scissors, coloured pencils, rulers, toothpicks, etc.

Type of the lesson: the formation of language competence in speech.

Procedure

1. Greeting

T. How are you?

Ps. Fine, thank you. And how are you?

T. I'm fine too, thank you. And how is our little Bambi? Do you remember him? Do you know, Бембі виявився наполегливим і уважним учнем.Слухаючи розповіді Товстунця, Бембі поступово знайомився зі сво­їм королівством.

3. Presentation

Одного разу з ним трапилась така пригода. Бембі побачив дві різнокольорові пелюстки на кінчику свого хвоста. Як називається ця квітка? — За­питав він у Товстунця,— І звід­ки вона взялася? Бембі ворухнув хвостиком, і яскра­ва «квітка» затремтіла і полетіла. Заєць крізь сміх пояснив, що літаюча «квітка» називається метелик. Послухай, які у них дзвінкі го­лоси та запам'ятай їхні кольори.

4. Phonetic Drill

Do you remember what colour the butterflies are? Наш давній  знайо­мий Mr. Tongue допоможе нам в цьому. Listen and repeat. Йому подобається дмухати на метеликів: [w-w-w-wait] — білий, як сніжинка. Наш dog розгнівався на Mr. Tongue і загарчав: [r-r-r-r-e-d-red] — черво­ний, як суничка. Погода змінилася, подув сильний вітер: [u:-u:-u:-b-l-u:-blu:-blu:] — синій, як хмаринка.

5. Practice
   1.    Учитель пропонує учням закін­чити думку англійською мовою, щоб утворилася рима, викорис­товуючи яскраву наочність або справжні предмети.

Яв Баранівці люблю бігати

в джинсах кольору ... blue.

Зранку ти не забувай чистити

зуби кольору... white.

Море, де стоїть «Артек»,

називається (як?) ... black.

У ялинки колір завжди один,

називається (як?)... green.

Колір поля та пшениці стиглої

називається (як?) ... yellow.

 Колір вовків та мишей

називається (як?) ... grey.

 А ведмідь на прізвисько «Бравий»

колір вибрав (який?) ... brown.

2.    Role-play. Учитель у ролі Художника нази­ває кольори, а діти здогадують­ся та називають поняття, явища та предмети від­повідного кольору:

Red, red, red ... (the flower).

Blue, blue, blue ... (the sky).

Green, green, green ... (the grass).

White, white, white ... (the snow).

Black, black, black... (the skunk).

Pink, pink, pink ... (the rose).

Yellow, yellow, yellow ... (the sun).

Orange, orange, orange ...(the orange).

Violet, violet, violet... (the violet).

 Purple, purple, purple ... (the bear).

Grey, grey, grey ... (the bird).

6. Game «What animal can be red (yellow, grey...)»

Painter (to Bambi). Bambi, dear, you have got so many friends. What colour are they?

The pupils make a circle. One of the pupils in the middle tosses the ball and names the colour. The pupil who catches the ball makes up the word- combination

«colour + animal» (a red fox) and tosses the ball to the next pupil.

7. Moving Game

Painter. I'm so tired. Let's have a rest. Let's play the moving game. Say and do.

Can you hop like a rabbit?             (Hop! Hop!)

Can you jump like a frog?              (Jump! Jump!)

Can you swim like a duck?             (Swim! Swim!)

Can you run like a dog?                  (Run! Run!)

Can you fly like a bird?                   (Fly! Fly!)

Can you walk like Julia?                (Walk! Walk!)

8. Group-Work

Painter. Look how happy Bambi is. Would you like to play with him his favourite game «Тор»?

1.     — First, look at the game on pages 52-53 (Pupil's Book, English Today 1),— Discuss it among themselves if  they wish.

Note: Meanwhile the painter distributes cards, scissors, coloured pencils, rulers and toothpicks. This may be best done in groups, with each gro­up sharing equipment.

The teacher makes one top while the pupils watch. If possible, one or two pupils can then make them while the teacher gives instructions. The others can make them at home.

2.     — Look, this is a top. It is a toy that spins and demonstrates.

The painter points to the colours and the pupils tell her the names.

3.     — Make this top.

The painter demonstrates with a piece of card or paper and uses a bold felt pen while she gives instructions: Draw, Colour, Cut out. (See page 52)

The painter demonstrates making a disc with their name as on the top of page 52, saying: Draw, Write your na­me, Cut out. The pupils can practise spinning their tops. They bring their tops and discs to the next lesson.

Lesson 2

Topic: «WHAT COLOUR IS IT? »

 Aims:

Practical: to form speech competence in listening, reading and speaking.

Developing: to develop pupils' me­mory, imagination, logical thin­king.

Up-bringing: to bring up love for the beauty of nature.

Equipment: a tape-recorder, bright visuality, real things, tops, coloured pencils, flash cards, SB «English Today l», OUP, SB «Let's go with us» byA. Gergel.

Type of the lesson: the formation of speech competence in listening, reading and speaking.

Procedure

1. Greeting

«Good-morning»-song.

2. Warming-up. Introductory «Weather Talk».

Вчитель спілкується з дітьми, пока­зуючи справжні предмети та вико­ристовуючи при цьому жести, міміку.

Т. Look, it is raining, it is wet.

I put on my violet hat, Violet suit.

                                         My gloves are white...

                                And I am warm, I am all right!

III. Phonetic Drill

T. And how is our Mr. Tongue?

Знову дме сильний вітер wind is blowing [ u:- u:- u-:- blu:- blu:- blu:]. Йде дощ it’s raining [p-p-p- рз:р1-рз:р1-рз:р1]. Язичок не може заснути. Він чує, як кричить сова [u-u-u], як десь недалеко проповз їжачок [f-f-f-v-v-v-'vaialit-'vaialit- 'vaialit]. Аж ось дощ вщух і визирну­ло сонечко. Все засяяло, заблищало навколо.

IV. Revision. Listening .

Т. Mr. Tongue наспівує свою улюб­лену пісеньку «Forest-song».

Listen to it and show the pencils of  the proper colour.

Oh, friends!  Our forest is very bright! ¹

Red and orange,

Green and yellow,

Pink and purple,

Black and white,

Grey and brown,

Blue and violet.

It's a nice forest. It's very bright.

5. Reading

T. 1. Тим часом Товстунець навчає  Бембі читати. Не says to him: Look at the flash cards and read the words for the colours. Let's do it together.

2.     Match the words with coloured objects.
3.     Read the words on the left of page 52.
4.     Look at the game on pages 52-53 for a few moments.
5.     Read some of the names of the colours in the circles.

6. Moving game «Touch the Colour».

 T. We are tired. Let's relax.

Вчитель називає колір, а діти знахо­дять іграшки або вказують на одяг в однокласників даного кольору.

7. Game «Colours».

Т. Bamby wants to play with Thumpety «Colours». Do you know how to do it?

1.     Look. Do and say.

(Teacher spins her top and sees what colour it lands on. Pupils spin theirs and tell what colour they land on.)

P. What colour is it?

P. It's ... (red, brown, grey...)

2.     Pair-work.

T. Play the game in pairs. Put your discs where it says START HERE.

They spin their tops and can move to the next space only if the colour they spin with the top is the same as the co­lour of the space. The first to reach the discs marked FINISH HERE is the Winner.

The teacher helps pairs of pupils to get started. It may be necessary to have a small group watching while the teacher helps a pair.

8. Evaluation

The pupils are presented with funny things of different colours.

9. Hometask

Colour the names of the colours and then the whole «Forest-song»

Lesson 3

Topic: «LET'S DRAW»

Aims:

Practical: to develop speech competence in listening and speaking.

Developing: to develop pupils' memory, imagination, logical thinking, creative abilities and talents.

Up-bringing: to bring up aesthetic perception of our colourful world.

Equipment: a tape-recorder, bright pictures, costumes, decorations.

Type of the lesson: the development of speech competence in listening and speaking.

Procedure

1. Greeting

Nice to meet you,

I'm so glad to meet you!

Thank you. I am glad to meet you.

2. Warming-up

T. Чи не могли б ви нагадати мені початок казки «About Red Ri­ding Hood»?

Ps. Одного сонячного літнього дня...

Т. Aha, thank you. Одного соняч­ного літнього дня Red Riding Hood зібралася відвідати свою Granny.

3. Review. Active listening

T. Do you hear her singing?

Ps. Yes.

Звучить пісня:

This is the sun,  that is a cloud.

That is a bird, that is the sky.

This is a tree, this is a flower.

That is a bush, and that's a butterfly.

Phonetic Drill

Раптом вона чує, як десь недалеко повзе snake, яка сичить, а навколо співають птахи, літають мухи і яск­раво світить сонце.

(вчитель вимов­ляє відповідні звуки, а учні повто­рюють їх).

5. Guessing Game
   1.    R. R. H. Guess what pictures are in my basket.

R. R. H. No, it isn't.

2.      Pair-Work.

Topic: «WHAT COLOUR IS THE ANIMAL?»

Aims:

Practical: to develop speech compe­tence in speaking and reading.

Developing: to develop pupils' me­mory, logical thinking, imaginati­on, creative skills and talents.

Up-bringing: to bring up love for natu­re, animals.

Equipment: a tape-recorder, cards, toy- animals.

Type of the lesson: the development of speech competence in speaking and reading.

Procedure

Вчитель запрошує учнів піти на екскурсію до лісу. Діти йдуть до лісу, наспівуючи:

T. Come along with me to the forest school. Stop. We are not far from it. Whom can you see there?

Діти роблять з паперу підзорну тру­бу, дивляться в неї і говорять:

 РЗ. I see a hare.

3. Matching Game.
   1.    T. Oh, look! Colors розгні­вались на вас, бо ви забули на­звати колір лісових звірів. їхні частинки розбіглися у різні сто­рони. Давайте з'єднаємо їх і по­миримо. Діти з'єднують розрізані частини слів та читають їх:

2.     T. By the way, деякі назви кольо­рів закодовані. Розкодуємо їх.

Дітям пропонується розфарбувати чорно-білу ілюстрацію відповідни­ми кольорами.

Topic: «LET'S PLAY   WITH COLOURS»

Aims of the lesson:

Practical: to practise pupils' skills in oral speech; to review vocabulary of the topic «Colours» and to use it in the speech.

Developing: to develop pupils^' skills to build their thoughts logically; ima­gination, memory; creative abiliti­es and talents.

Up-bringing: to bring up pupils' moti­vation in learning a foreign langu­age; to develop sociocultural skills to communicate with people; to introduce competitive spirit into a group.

Equipment: a tape-recorder, a set of bright pictures, coloured pencils, papers, balloons, toys, costumes.

Procedure

1. Greeting

Songs «Good-morning», «I am glad to see you».

2. Introductory talk. Warming up

Чи подобається вам подорожу­вати? Come along with me у ма- льовничо-казковий світ of colo­urs. Stand up, please. Say: «We go far away» (звучить музика) and go! Hush, listen and look! We are in the green forest, що перепов­нений пахощами різнотрав'я та звуків. Look. Who is this girl? Let's greet her!

Snow-White. How do you do? I'm Snow-White. And who are you? (Вітається, знайомиться, пода­ючи руку, спершу з учителем, а потім — з кожним учнем.) Meet my friends, Brothers Colours.' They live in a small house far away in the forest and every day they get up very early in the morning and paint our world in different colo­urs. Every day they create a won­derful picture of our colourful world.

So this little gnome is Brother Blue. He gets up the earliest of all the others and paints the sky in... what colour?

• Blue.

Yes, blue. Його кроки так само, як і колір, дуже спокійні, тому що він не хоче розбудити своїх Brothers. Він іде тихо й спокійно.

(Учні повторюють: blue-blue-blue. Звучить музика і гном прикріплює малюнок хмарки на дошку.)

Then Brother Yellow comes. What does he draw?

• The Sun.

Yes, he draws the yellow sun in the blue sky.

(На фоні музики гном прикріплює малюнок сонця на дошку.)

Згодом прокидаються усі інші бра ти-гноми і починають run and jump.

Brother Pink бере свій пензлик and jumps just pink-pink-pink {pupils repeat). What does he draw?

• Flowers. Yes, flowers.

(На фоні музики гном прикріплює малюнок квітки на дошку.)

Brother Red gets angry, he runs after him r-red — r-red — r-red (pupils repeat and на фоні музики гном прикріплює малюнок червоної полуниці на дошку).

Then Brother Green comes. He draws … What does he draw? 

•   Grass and leaves in the trees.

Yes, green-green-green {pupils repeat and на фоні музики гном прикріплює малюнки трави та листя на деревах на дошку).

Brother Brown helps him to draw… What does he draw? 

 Trees. Yes, of course, he draws brown-brown-brown trees.

3. Використовуючи наочні матері­али, учитель пропонує учням закінчити думку англійською мовою, щоб утворилася рима.

Т. Тільки-но пензлик в руки ви візьмете,

То на гостину до фарб ви теж попадете.

Щоб колір одразу ви могли знайти,

Запам'ятайте всі назви на шляху.

Я в Баранівці люблю бігати в джинсах кольору... blue.

Зранку ти не забувай чистити зуби кольору... white.

Море, де стоїть «Артек»,називається (як?) ... black.

T. Take your coloured pencils and go to the blackboard. Think of a colour. The pupils must guess the colour, запитуючи:

No, it isn't.

Yes, it is. It's ....

T. Thank you very much. Всі ви гар­но працювали, за що отримуєте buttercups. Хто складе flower з 5 пелюсточок, отримає a red balloon, 4-а blue one, 3 — a green one, 2-а yellow one.

2. Pair-Work.

T. Guess the colour in twos: What co­lour is the butterfly? If you guess, say «Bingo» і ви отримаєте пер­шу пелюсточку.

V. Т. Snow-White проведе з вами а Funny Minute:

1. Clap your hands, коли почуєте правильне словосполучення:

A black man, a green dog, a blue sky, a brown apple, a yellow sun, a white

bush, a pink pig, a grey map, a red lamp...

(Білосніжка читає словосполучення, а вчи­тель роздає пелюстки.)

2. Touch the colour or point to it.

(Білосніжка називає колір, а діти знаходять його на іграшках або в однокласників на одягу.)

6. Group-Work. Crosses and Naughts

The pupils are divided into two teams: team X — pupils with brown eyes, team О — the rest of the pupils.

Make up word-combinations with the following nouns: tree, flower, bag, butterfly, sky, sun, cloud, bird, duck, dog, bush, apple, pig, lamp, etc.

Red Blue Yellow

Black Brown Pink

Green Grey Violet

(Snow-White роздає пелюстки, а та команда, яка виграє, отримує заохочувальні кульки блакитного кольору.)

7. Individual Work. Colour Quiz

T. And now it's time for music. Listen to it and draw те, що ви уявляєте, слухаючи музику.

(Учні слухають фонограми та малюють хмар­ку, сонце, небо.)

— Oh, look, what is this? Yes, it's a rainbow. Let's colour the rainbow together. (Вчитель називає кольо­ри веселки, а діти малюють.)

Тепер вам зрозуміло, скільки робо­ти у братів. Незабаром Brother Blue and Brother Grey розфарбує все довкола grey-grey-grey. Лісова галявина по­рожніє, всі Brothers Colours say «Good-night» and go to bed. Лише Brother Blаск goes малювати ніч. Йому допомагає Brother White, який малює місяць та зірки. Тиша навкруги, всі сплять до наступного ранку, адже тоді наша казка розпоч­неться знову.
