Objectives

1. By the end of the lesson learners will be able to say what the Global Goals for Sustainable development are.

2. Learners will be introduced to nouns:  poverty, inequality, hunger etc.

3. Learners will review modal verbs “can, may, might, should, must”

1. A4 paper (one per table)

2. Flashcards

3. A video given by the “World`s

largest Lesson” UNICEF

Procedures

Time

Introduction

Let pupils listen to the song “ Heal the World”.  Encourage them to guess the topic of the lesson. Introduce new words using the definitions.

Main part

Watching the video taken from the materials of “The World`s Largest Lesson” by UNICEF

Students watch the video and find out the ideas as for the main problems on the Earth.

Pair work.

Let students choose top 5 problems faced by people on the Earth.

Presentation

Running Dictation

Working in groups of 4-5 students search for the 17 Global Goals and filling in their mind maps.

10 mins

Discussion

Let pupils choose one of the Goals and discuss what they personally can do to achieve it. Remind students to use modal verbs.

Project Time

Each group designs the plan of  a poster and present it to the class using SCRUM board ( to do, in progress, done)

Extra activities

 Listening to the song and putting lines in the correct order. Singing the song “I Send My Love”.

Follow up and homework

Working on the project according to the plan. Be ready to present your progress.
