Lesson 3

Theme: Doing Shopping

Objectives:

to revise lexical materials about the theme;

to form communicative and social competence of students.

to develop  the skills of dialogue speech,  listening skills;

Vocabulary: grocer’s, greengrocer’s, market, dairy goods, butcher’s, bakery, toy shop, department store, loaf of bread, sausages, sour cream and etc.)

Structure: I need, I would like, I can

Materials: cards, flashcards “Shopping”, phrases “I need..”, “I would like..”, I can buy …”, audiotext.

Outcomes: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to:

  • list the names of different shops and goods;
  • guess the meaning of the familiar words;
  • classify products and goods according to the shops;
  • describe your shopping list using words much, many, any, some, I need, I would like;
  • select information from the audio text.

PROCEDURE

  1. Greeting

  • Listen to me and guess about the theme of our lesson.
  • Usually two or more people take part in this process.
  • We do it in a special place.
  • We do it very often.
  • Usually women like to do it , men don’t like.
  • We can’t do it without money.
  • What is it?

Ps. Shopping.

  • Yes, we are going to speak about shopping. It’s very important because we need many things for our life. So, I’m sure we cannot imagine our life withpout shops.
  1. Warming up.
  1. Phonetic drill

- Let’s repeat after me in order to improve your pronunciation.

  • So, before going to the shop you must know the names of them and what can you buy there. You may use such phrases:
  • We can buy … at the…
  • I need ….
  • I would like..
  • Can I  buy … at the ….?

- Good morning. Give me 10 eggs, a bottle of milk, bacon and butter. 

- Good morning. Ok, wait a minute. What else?

- I think, that's enough. Oh, no... sorry, I also need sugar. How much is that?

- That's 35$.

- Oh, sorry I have only 30$.

- You can pay the rest next time. 

- Thank you, very much. Good-bye.
