Topic: College Life. The Development of Reading
Objectives: to develop reading skills;

       to teach students search for specific information;

       to enlarge students’ knowledge about education in the US;

       to stimulate their interest to the culture of English-speaking countries;

 

 

     Procedure

  1. Greeting. Organizing work
  • Good morning children. Nice to see you / Pleased to see you.

How are you today? Sit down.

  1. Setting the objectives
  • Today , at our lesson we are going to learn about college life in the USA during reading the text.

Pre-reading activities

  1. Warm up

At first, I offer  you to guess the words by their meanings.(study hard, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English Literature, do projects, campus, dorm, adventure).

Thanks, you are good at it.

  1. Lead-in

Today, I’m happy, because I’ve got only 5 lessons. What about you? How many lessons do you have? What lessons? Would you like to know what college life is like in the USA?

SB -       Let’s open your SB at page 48. Here you see 3c Culture Corner and the text «College Life».

  1. Reading Skills
  1. Pre – reading (ex 1. p. 48)

Are you good at guessing? Let’s check that ex. 1 p. 48 – try to predict  which sentences  are

Don’t look at the text, please. You’ ve got 1 minute.

  1. While reading check your predictions.

  • Let’s pay attention to the verbs  that go with their nouns (ex. 2 p. 48)

  1. Summarizing reflection
  • Summarize you are to working in groups. This now is the first group, so on.
  • Take a piece of paper and say the colour. This colour is the colour of your task. You should look through the text for a minute and find necessary information. Then close your book and write down proper  word, word combinations or sentences . At the end present your topic. Let’s start ( Your time is up )
  • You’ve done a great job ! Thank you.
  • Write down your h/t: SB p. 48 ( retell the text )

    WB p. 26 ex. 1

  • Will you stand up, our lesson is over. Good bye!
