Тема:               Різдво у Великій Британії.

Цілі:

Практична:      активізувати лексичний матеріал теми, вдосконалювати навички усного мовлення, аудіювання, читання, навчати учнів працювати в групі, повторити вживання теперішнього тривалого часу.

Освітня:          розширити знання учнів про Різдво у Великій Британії.

Розвиваюча:     розвивати навички монологічного та діалогічного мовлення.

Виховна:       прищеплювати інтерес до пізнання світу, виховувати почуття    прекрасного.

Обладнання: мультимедійна дошка, презентація з символами та традиціями святкування Різдва у Великій Британії, картки з малюнками до загадок та завданнями з граматики, кросворди для роботи в групах, відео пісні «We wish you a merry Christmas», ялинка та іграшки.

Тип уроку:    комбінований.

Хід уроку

1. Організаційний момент.

Greeting and aim of the lesson

Good morning, boys and girls. How are you today? At first I want to ask you what season is it now? Yes, it is winter now. And now tell me, please, why do you like winter? And do you like winter holidays? So, today we shall speak about one of the winter holidays – Christmas in Great Britain.

The tasks of the lesson are:

• to revise Christmas symbols and traditions;
• to learn more about Christmas in Great Britain.

What do you think shall we do today? Yes, we shall decorate Christmas tree, sing songs, play games, do exercises.

Warming up

And now tell me, please, when do we celebrate Christmas in Ukraine? Yes, we celebrate it on the 7^th of January.

And do you know when people celebrate Christmas in Great Britain? Yes, they celebrate it on the 25^th of December. That’s the difference. Christmas is more important holiday than New Year. Christmas is a great holiday in Great Britain.

Do you know what do people celebrate at Christmas? Yes, we celebrate the birth of Christ.

And now let’s name the symbols of Christmas in Great Britain, then read and translate the information:

1. Santa Claus. The origin of Santa Claus begins in the 4^th century with Saint Nicolas. He was a very kind man and he loved children very much.
2. Christmas tree. A fir tree is the sign of everlasting life because it`s leaves are always green. Look at the Christmas Tree in London in Trafalgar Square.
3. Holly. The holly with berries in winter has some magical powers.
4. Mistletoe. People who meet under the mistletoe should kiss.
5. Christmas wreath. People hang it on the door of a house. Many centuries ago the wreaths were presented as gifts on Christmas Day.
6. Christmas star. A bright star appeared in the sky when Jesus was born.
7. Christmas candles. They symbolize a welcome to cold people.
8. Christmas stockings. Children in Great Britain believe that Santa Claus puts presents into the stockings.
9. Presents. People put presents under the Christmas tree.
