                                              Procedure

I.  Introductory part a) Т: Good morning, dear pupils! At the previous lesson  we successfully started  learning  a new topic « Doing Sports ». We had   a great time while  listening to new plans of Chris, Terry and  John. By the way, who can remind me about their new  idea? Who suggests writing about sports? What new words you learned at the last lesson? Can you give me any explanations of the words in English? To make an easy  beginning for you  I’ll be the first. So, guess what it is: the sport of fighting with a  very sharp sword ( STDTs go on the activity).  What international words did you hear at the last lesson?

b)For our today’s lesson I’ve remade a poem.  Reading a poem (written on the blackboard) :

I enjoy skateboarding                                 Terry’s interested in karate,

You are fond of sailing:                                 Lilly’s crazy about diving

We all like windsurfing                                  We all like horse riding,

Kate is keen on of walking.                       Swimming, fencing, climbing.

There are lots of sports on every taste

Choose the one you like the best!

c) Let’s deal with the synonyms of the word “to love”, the poem will be very helpful to us, won’t it?

II.Main part

1. Vocabulary Reinforcement: the synonyms of the word “to love” and the names of sports WB: Ex.1, p.27.

                            1

              2

2. Check on home assignment: WB ex. 1p. 26( in a written form), STBook ex.3,p. 44.

3. Listening   Comprehension   a) Pre-Listening Activity.    Т: You are going to listen to and practise the second dialogue. Open your books on page 45, please. Look at the pictures on this page. Who can you see? Do you know the boys’ names?

b) While - Listening:  search the synonyms to the following words : High jumps, running races. Now give the explanation  of the  word “ track”.

c) Checking Comprehension : True or False. 1) Tom Bondarenko is Terry’s cousin . 2) He explains the difference between ‘a game ‘and ‘a sport’.3) Running and jumping are games. 4) Running races are called field events.5) Jumping is called a field event.

d )Post- Listening  Т: Two of you will act out the dialogue. One is interested in the words ‘sailing’ and ‘fencing’. The other one gives the explanation of the words in English. All the rest will work on ex.2,p.28 (WB).

                                             3 (d) – dialogue making

                          4

 4. Vocabulary Reinforcement: ex.2, p.28 (WB).

5. A  Minute for rest a) CROSS AND NAUGHT (make up sentences with the words in blocks: in the way of competition between boys and girls).

6.  Grammar Presentation: Indefinite Pronouns and a rule of negation. a) Т: at the previous lesson you also got to know the rules of Indefinite Pronouns usage. Say to me please what pronouns can be said about a person    and about a thing. Now explain to me  when we use   some/ any and their derivatives. Today we are going to continue on working  on  the grammar unit, but I want you to remember the rule: It is an obligation – in English sentence there’s only one negation.

b)I’ll remind you the lines  from the poem you read at the last lesson.

When someone’s brought you something to read,

But you have no desire for it,

It means  that anyone has given you nothing to read

Or nothing has fitted your mood to read.

It makes no matter, you mustn’t too worry...

What substitutions are possible in the lines: But you have no desire for it,

It means  that anyone has given you nothing to read

Or nothing has fitted your mood to read ...?

  7.  Grammar   Practice : STBook ex. 5,p. 47.

III.Summing –up: Dear children, we have done well today, haven’t we?  At home you’ll make  sports classification Ex. 6, p.45 and get ready to write a  short vocabulary test for the next lesson.
