Travelling
Suggested level – Intermidiate.
Objectives: - to train and improve four types of pupils’ language skills;
develop communicative skills using active vocabulary on the topic;
develop student’s imagination and knowledge of English;
motivate and improve children in effective learning;
by the end of the lesson students will be able to use new vocabulary.
Equipment: CD- player, picture -cards, laptop, “On Screen B2 ” Student’s Book and Workbook.
Procedure
I. INTRODUCTION
1. Greeting. Announcing the topic.
- T: Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Make yourselves comfortable. We’re going to set off. First of all fasten your seatbelts and enjoy our what?
- P: lesson?
- T: No, it’s boring. Forget about your lesson. What guys? What else? Any ideas?
- P: Our trip, a business trip, a journey, voyage, travel ……
-T: We’re going on a trip
II. WARM – UP
T: Let’s decide which means of transport you will choose? Please make a right choice. Guys you’re travelling in the car, on the plane and on the train.
- Who is travelling by car raise your hands. You’re travelling together. Congratulation. You will have a nice journey
- Who is travelling by train raise your hands. Oh! You’re travelling in the same compartment. Good company.
- Who is travelling by plane raise your hands. So you’re travelling by plane, you have an aisle seat and you have a window seat.
Harry up! Time flies. Don’t forget your luggage.
III. MAIN PART
Speaking.
While you’re waiting at the airport or at the station or you’re in a traffic jam, you notice a quote. Look at it. So think over do you agree with this statement. And we will discuss it after watching a short video, a kind of advertisement.
If you have a long journey a pleasant chat can help you kill time
So, why does travelling make you richer?
2. Vocabulary.
But our is unpredictable and we sometimes may get into trouble, like we might have misunderstanding with some idioms. Let’s see how you will solve these kinds of problems. (Read the idioms).
Not to get into trouble again. Let’s write down the correct solution. Put these idioms into the sentences.
3. Listening.
Now you’re a bit tired of lively discussion and need a moment to yourselves. While you’re relaxing, listen to the current news in the paper that you’ve bought before. Phrases may interest you are the following. (aisle seats, extensive entertainment suits, eco-tours, long-haul flights, clarify.)
Ok! Look through the task. Do you have any questions? Let’s listen twice and choose the correct answers.
IV. Relaxation.
And now after serious news a minute of entertainment. Listen and sing your favourite song.
4. Writing.
And now it’s time to go home. A way home is as exciting as the trip itself. Because you have lots of experience you want to share with. Open your guide books on page 29 look at exercise 4 and with the help of photos describe your unforgettable moments from the trip, using expressions in the box. Choose your partner, work in pairs and make up short dialogues.
V. Summing up. Home assignment.
