Level: intermediate

Objectives: - to develop students' ability to communicate their opinion on and reaction to a text;

 - to develop students' ability to negotiate in a group and work as a team presenting their projects;

 - to expand students' vocabulary on the modern-day topic of image.

 -to get more knowledge, interesting information about styles of clothes;

 -to stimulate students to express their opinion;

 -to teach them to respect tastes and feelings of other people;

Procedure:

I Introduction 1min

T: Good morning, class! I’m glad to see you. How are you? Today we have our

conclusion lesson on topic “Clothes. Fashion”. We are going to revise all your

knowledge concerning this topic. Also we’ll learn new facts about it, listen

to the new information and present your projects. I hope you are fine and

ready to work hard, aren’t you? So, let’s start our lesson.

II Warming-up 5 min

Quiz “ Are You a Fashion Victim?”: Choose answers to the following questions:

1. You are invited to a party. What would you wear? a) Something new and fashionable. b) A traditional suit or dress. c) Does it matter?
2. How much time do you spend in front of the mirror before going out? a) More than fifteen minutes. 
   b) Less than fifteen minutes. c) About five minutes.
3. What do you usually wear? a) Casual clothes, for example a T-shirt and jeans. b) Whatever's in fashion? c) What I feel like wearing.
4. Why do you like your clothes? a) Because I feel comfortable in them. b) Because they say something about the sort of person I am. 
   c) I can't say I like my clothes.
5. You pass a clothes shop and see just the dress/suit you want. It's beautiful — but you haven't got much money. What would you do? a) I'd forget about it. b) I wouldn't buy it, but I would dream about it. c) I'd borrow money and buy it.

8 — 15 points: You aren't fashion-conscious at all. You think that there are more important things in life than fashion. But don't you think the world would be a dull place if there were no fashion? It adds spice to life.
16 — 24 points: Clothes aren't the most important thing in your life. However, you know what suits you and you have a personal style. But you are a little bit conservative. Why not try a different style for a change?
25 — 32 points: You are a fashion victim! You go for the latest styles and spend a lot of money on clothes. But there are more important things in life than clothes — try speaking to people and you'll be surprised to find that they are nice, even if they are wearing old shoes.

Teacher: There are some expressions about fashion. Read them and say, if you agree or disagree with them. Which quotes do you like most of all? How do you understand them?

III Main part 

1. Vocabulary 7 min

a) Activity “Round Circle” (Ss in turn write down words related to the topic:

-Casual

-Formal

-Footwear

-Accessories)

b) The Game “Where are you?”

Ss in turn describe what they are wearing and class tries to guess where he/she is in such clothes.

c) Look at the pictures and say if these statements are true or false?

2. Discussion

T.: There is a saying that "good clothes open all doors" and I quite agree with it. Lots of people think that it's important to follow fashion. They buy new clothes and accessories but these things go out of fashion very quickly and they have to buy more. But no doubt there are some advantages & disadvantages of being fashionable. Put these cards under the correct heading and explain your choice.

3. Presentation of Ss’ projects 10 min

T.: One will hardly disagree that it is pleasant to look at a person who is neatly and beautifully dressed. A person usually chooses clothes according to his or her age, social class, financial position and occupation. People also choose clothes according to their preferences and character. There are a lot of clothes styles in our life. Your home task was to make a project about one of the clothing styles.

Let’s present them and fill in the table.

4. Reading 10 min

T.: I think clothes should suit you. If you have good taste you can buy a big range of styles and always look fashionable. But clothes should suit the occasion, and put you in the right mood for the day. Look at the title and guess what the text is about. What rules do you think are important for fashion? Discuss in pairs and decide. Let’s read golden rules for fashion by expert and try to follow them in your life.

Answer the questions:

- What does a ‘capsule wardrobe’ mean? What clothes does it include?

-What does ‘being stylish’ mean?

-Which colour do you think versatile? Why?

-Which of these rules do you think the most useful?

5. Communication. 8 min

T.: Now I have a very interesting task for you. Imagine that you are famous designers and you need make up interesting fashion looks in different styles. Choose photos you like most of all, introduce your work and describe your looks.

III Conclusion/Feedback “Rucksack” 4 min

• T.: To conclude, fashion plays a significant role in our life. However, we must not forget that moral human`s qualities are more important and valuable. Be stylish inside too. Be elegant, charming, charismatic, or mysterious.
