The main objectives of the research:– to analyze the stages of formation of grammatical categories of the pronoun as a full-fledged part of the language;– to characterize the status of reverse constructions in modern English;– to theoretically substantiate the grammatical features of reflexive pronouns in modern English. The object of the research: the category of reversal in modern English. The subject of my research: grammatical features of reflexive pronouns in modern English. Analysis. Systematization and classification. Method of comparison and synthesis. Specification of scientific information. Studying and summarizing the material. Methods of the research. Results and Conclusions The problem of the functioning of the language and speech units has always occupied an important place in the linguistic researches. Pronouns in the grammatical structure of any language represent a special lexical-grammatical category from the point of view of semantics, function and structure, which requires their search in certain aspects. Research of the language and speech units in synchronic and diachronic aspects is a separate part of the development of modern categorical grammar. The historical development of pronouns as a separate part of the language has examined in this research. Reflexive pronouns are of great research interest due to their heterogeneity in structure, functional load and semantic ambiguity.
