1C. : Love! Happiness! Beauty! There’re not so many days in a year when we pronounce these pleasant words. Today you have an excellent chance to plunge into atmosphere of love, to take part in party games, to practice the use of some pleasant words and expressions on this special day. Happy St.Valentine’s Day!

 

2C. : Here a special valentine. With lots of love for you. And since you’re very special. Here are hugs and kisses too!

 

1C.: Ladies and gentlemen! Good day!

2C.: It’s lovely to meet you here, at Valentine’s party!

3C. : Hello friends! We are happy to welcome you at our party today. We have been eagerly waiting for it!

4C.: Today we celebrate St.Valentine’s  Day! It’s a special day. It’s a day when people tell each other nice things, they give small presents to their beloved ones, and they speak and sing about love.

Pupil : It’s Valentine’s Day ! And in the street

There’s freezing rain, and slush and sleet.

The wind is fierce. The sky is grey.

I don’t think I’ll go out today.

But here inside the weather’s warm,

There’s no trace of wind or storm

And you just made the morning shine

You said you’d be my Valentine.

 

2C. : It seems there is nothing simpler than love and at the same time there is no thing more complicated than love. Everybody feels love to another person but it is hard to explain what love is. Try to say what the feeling means and you will see that the words are poor and cover only a part of the whole. Life is full of love but not everybody can see that. We love our parents and relatives, friends and pets; we love our homes and our Motherland. But there are different kinds of love. There is an old legend about it. Let’s see.

 2C.: A nice legend, isn’t it ?

1 C.: A legend is a legend but love really makes wonders. Great love makes lovers better and kinder. And the world around them becomes lighter, brighter and kinder. It inspires poets and musicians to create their immortal works.

2С.: Such a tender song. But love always had two sides a happy and a sad one.

1C.: What do you mean?

2C.: Do you know why we celebrate the day of love and lovers on the 14^th of February?

1C.: I’ve heard something about it. But don’t remember exactly. It is connected with Valentine, isn’t i ?

3C.: Love, love me do. You know I love you

       I’ll always be true, So please love me do.  ( it’s for you )

4C.: Someone to love. Somebody new.

        Someone to love. Someone like you.

I hope that Valentine’s Day will bring you lots of fun. He thinks you’re extra specially nice, And so does everyone.

3C.: You’re just the nicest kind of girl.

So very grown-up too

No wonder that this Valentine

Brings lots of love for you.

4C.: it’s here again, the day when boys and girls, sweethearts and lovers, husbands and wives, friends and neighbors and even the office staff will exchange greetings of affection undying love or satirical comment,

3C.: What kind of holiday is St.Valentine’s day?

4C.: St.Valentine’s Day is a religious holiday, which is celebrated in Great Britain, in the USA and in many countries. St.Valentine’s Day has roots in several legends.

3C.: Right you are. But let’s go to Rome to the times of the Emperor Claudius.

1C.: Valentine was a Christian priest in the Roman Empire 300 years after the death of Jesus Christ.

2C.: My sweetheart, look! I can’t believe it! Is it Valentine himself!

1C.: You’re welcome , patron of lovers.

Boy : Oh, please, marry us! We love each other! We can’t live without each other.

Girl : I’ll die, if you don’t marry us. Please, please! Help us!

( падають на коліна )

Priest: I see how much you love each other. I will help you. My daughter! My son! I declare you husband and wife. Live long and be happy!

( з’являються солдати і хватають священика )

Soldier : Priest, you have been discovered and condemned to death!

Soldier : How dare you break the law! To prison! To prison!

                             Scene 2

Girl: Have some bread and wine.

Valentine : Who are you, my dear daughter?

Girl : I am a daughter of the warder. What do you look like?

Valentine : Why do you ask me about ?

Girl : I’m blind. And can see nothing.

Valentine: Believe in God. He will help you to see. If not with eyes but with your kind heart. Love will help you.

( Дівчина йде )

Soldier: Time to go to the square.

Valentine : I’m ready. But be so kind to give my note to the warders daughter.

Soldier: But she is blind. She can’t read.

 Valentine : Don’t worry. She will do it with the help of her heart.

( Валентина забирають зі сцени )

Soldier : Here is a note for you.

Girl : I love you so much. Be happy, don’t  cry, your Valentine. Oh, I can see! Oh, my dear!

Soldier :  ( падає на коліна ) A miracle. A blind can see. Oh, Saint Valentine!

3C. : Such a sad and a wonderful story. Now I see why it is called Saint Valentine’s Day.

4C. : But it is not the only Valentine who worried about lovers. The musicians tried to express love in their operas, songs, dancers. Let’s see love story in the dance.

1C.: Well, now I know why there is a tradition to sign Valentine’s cards “ From your Valentine”

2C.: Many Valentines have romantic poems, other are humorous. But almost Valentines ask “ Be my Valentine”. It is a tradition to exchange gifts on Valentine’s Day. We prepared some Valentines.

1C.: What are you reading ?

2C. : Oh, it’s a Valentine card from a secret admire.

1C. : A secret admire? Who is it ?

2C. : Don’t you know? It’s a person who writes Valentines cards to someone but who wants to stay unknown. So he sign the car  like this “ a secret admire “ or  “ a mysterious friend “ to stay unknown.

1C. : I see. Where do you take these cards?

2C. : In the mailbox, of course.

1C. Love makes friendship, happiness. But to love means to give rather than to take . Let’s see it in a dance.

2C. : Love is a stream of living water , which we drink every day and need it always . At the same time it’s the sun that gives people light along the river of life.

1C.: In love we give a hand to another, in love we change and make other people happy. In love all people are beautiful.

 

3C. : Now we offer you to take part in our contests. The first task will be to write your names and put the cards into the mailbox.

Дівчата і хлопці пишуть свої імена і кладуть в скриньку. Потім по черзі витягують карточкі. Таким чином утворюються пари.

4C. : We have three pairs.

4C. : Well our party is coming to the end, and soon we’ll find out which couple is the best.

1C. : Our joyful holiday of friendship, true love and romance is ending with good music and smiles.

2C. : On this day we prepared Valentines to our teachers. We thank you , our dears teachers , for perfect knowledge, for the wonders in the soul, for love.
