Позакласний захід « The English Brain Ring»

для учнів 8-11 класів

Мета: - актуалізувати лексичний, граматичний, краєзнавчий матеріал з англійської мови; - розвивати усі види мовленнєвої діяльності; - виховувати колективізм, згуртованість, прагнення перемогти.

Обладнання: дошка, прапори англомовних країн, кросворд, фотографіїї «London», картки з прислів’ями, карта Великої Британії.

Хід заходу

Ведучий вітає присутніх, журі , гравців.

Гравці займають місця за двома столами, представляють себе. (e.g. “Hello! I’m Yana. I want to win this game.”)

1^st Round. Lexical material (Antonyms).    Score: 4

Ведучий називає слова, гравці – антоніми до них. Гра на швидкість. Перемагають ті, хто називає більше слів.

2^nd Round. The Excursion about London.   Score: 1 ball for answer.

Ведучий читає опис, гравці називають, що це, і показують відповідну фотографію.

Team 1

1. This is a famous building in London. It’s a 600-rooms palace. It’s the London home of the British Royal Family. (Buckingham Palace)

2. The place that is also called the Palace of Westminster. There the laws of British life are debated and passed. The Queen open each new session there. (The Houses of Parliament)

3. In the past it was a palace, a fortress and a prison. Many kings lived there. According to the legend the kingdom will fall without the black birds ravens who live there. (The Tower of London)

4. If you are in a hurry, the fastest way of travelling is by it. Their special shape and black colour are famous all over the world. It is also called ‘cab’. (Taxi)

5. It stands in Trafalgar Square, has 44m hight. There are four lions near the base. It was built in memory of the legendary admiral. (Nelson Column)

Team 2

1. It`s one of the oldest buildings in London and one of the most important religious centres in GB. Many kings and queens are buried there. The ancient Coronation Chair is in this monastery. (Westminster Abbey)

2. It is situated on the bank of the river Thames and is a part of the Houses of Parliament. Another name is St. Stephen’s Tower. It has a large bell of thirteen tons. (Big Ben)

3. It`s one of the symbols of London. You can have a sightseeing tour by it. It is only one traditional red colour and with two floors. (Double-decker)

4. It is a famous museum. You can see the figures of the well-known people there. All the models are made of wax. (Madame Tussaud’s Museum)

5. It is made of white marble and stands in front of Buckingham Palace. It was build to honour the great woman who made much for Britain. (Monument to Queen Victoria)

3^rd Round. Proverbs.   Score: 1 ball for answer.

Кожна команда отримує картки з частинами прислів’їв.

Завдання: з’єднати якнайшвидше частини прислів’я і перекласти  на українську мову.

 4th Round. Crossword.    Score: 1 ball for answer.

Гравці по-черзі з кожної команди витягують картки з запитанням, розгадують і записують у кросворд на дошці.

5^th Round. Mini -scene. Score: 6 balls.

Капітани команд витягують карточки з назвами ситуацій, які треба розіграти:

• In the hospital.
• In the café.
• In the theatre.
• At the railway-station.
• At the shop.

Участь беруть усі гравці команди.

Гра з залом. Game with Audience.

Глядачі діляться на 2 групи, одна грає за 1-шу команду, інша – за 2-гу.

Завдання: назвіть якомога більше слів, які одинаково звучать як українською так і англійською мовами ( напр., taxi, shopping, machine, Internet).

Завершальний етап. Підрахунки балів та оголошення результатів.
