Today we are going to show you New Year and Christmas traditions in Ukraine in short: Winter Festivities. Welcome to our holiday!
The first holiday we are going to speak about is Saint Nickolas Day.
P1: On the 19th of December we have Saint Nickolas Day. In early morning the children look under the pillow for their presents. They can find there sweets, nuts and other good things.
The leader: Now listen to the song about St.Nickolas.
Well now we are preparing for another interesting holiday. What holiday is it?
P2:Of course, it is New Year's Day. It is a happy holiday. We like it very much. There is a lot of snow on the ground, on the houses, on the trees.
New Year Day, happy day,
We are all glad and very gay.
We all dance and sing and say:
Welcome, welcome, New Year Day!
P3:Many people celebrate the New Year’s Day on the 14th of January by old style. On this day boys go to sow:
Happy New Year!
We are sowing.
Happiness for all we wish.
Let the joy be in every dwelling.
In all the towns and villages
May there ears of wheat be
on every field.
Good evening, masters in your dwelling.
Our best wishes on holidays merry!
Let us sing song.
The song.
Good eveningto you, our dear masters.

The straw is on the floor, the people put a sheaf of wheat or rye in the corner of the room. The youth sing carol songs, the children go with a star.
(The scene with a star)
P5:On the 7th of January people go to the church. After that they have a holiday dinner.
People have holidays three days. They sing religious songs, go with "Vertep".
