для учнів 7 класів

“In the World of Nature”.

(турнір знавців англійської мови)

Мета: відпрацювання та закріплення вивченого лексичного матеріалу за темою “Nature. Animals”.

Завдання:

* Створити умови для вдосконалення навичок аудіювання, говоріння, письма;

 *Удосконалювати навички вимови;

* Сприяти формуванню навичок спільної роботи в парі, групі, індивідуально;

* Сприяти розвитку пам'яті, уваги, мовної здогадки;

* Розвивати вміння використовувати міміку і жести;

* Сприяти вихованню любові до природи; сприяти бажанню вивчати англійську мову.

Обладнання: · класна дошка, презентація, комп’ютер, сигнальні картки, картки із завданнями.

Форма проведення: індивідуальна, парна, групова.

Тривалість: 45 хвилин.

ХІД ЗАХОДУ:

I. Warm-up

T: Good afternoon, boys and girls! I am glad to see you. Sit down, please. How are you? Are you ready?

  Today we are going to have an unusual lesson. It will be a lesson-competition. We have two teams and two captains. Children, what are the names of your teams? How many pupils have you got in your teams? Please, present your teams.

   Thank you very much. I will give a prize to the winner at the end of this competition. Be very attentive and try to do everything correctly. Let us start!

II. Competitions.

• The first task is “Tongue-twisters”.

T: You have cards with tongue -twisters. You should prepare to read it correctly and quickly. For each correctly pronounced tongue -twister – 1 point. Practice please for 2 minutes.

Betty Botter's Better Batter

Betty Botter had some butter,
"But," she said, "this butter's bitter.
If I bake this bitter butter,
It would make my batter bitter.
But a bit of better butter,
That would make my batter better."
So she bought a bit of butter –
Better than her bitter butter –
And she baked it in her batter;
And the batter was not bitter.
So 'twas better Betty Botter
Bought a bit of better butter.

Ned Nott and Sam Shott

Ned Nott was shot and Sam Shott was not.
So it is better to be Shott than Nott.
Some say Nott was not shot.
But Shott says he shot Nott.
Either the shot Shott shot at Nott was not shot,
Or Nott was shot.
If the shot Shott shot shot Nott, Nott was shot.
But if the shot Shott shot shot Shott,
Then Shott was shot, not Nott.
However, the shot Shott shot shot not Shott, but Nott.

• The second task is «A magic five»

T: And now we come to the second contest that is called “A magic five”.

There are 10 numbers on the board. Each number hides a special task.

You will get 5 points for right answer.

1. Name 5 domestic animals;
2. Name 5 colors;
3. Name 5 sort of vegetables;
4. Name 5 sort of fruit;
5. Name 5 months;
6. Name 5 kinds of sport;
7. Name 5 wild animals;
8. Name 5 countries;
9. Name 5 holidays;

• The third task is «Riddles»

T: Guess the riddles. For each right answer – one point.

3. It’s big and orange. It has two humps. It leaves in a desert (A camel);
4. It’s the biggest continent (Asia);

8. It’s a big animal like a cow with long hair (A bison);

22.  What kind of forest animal dries mushrooms on the branches? (A squirrel)

• The fourth task. Lotto "Domestic and wild animals".

A set with pictures of wild and domestic animals is given for each team.

T: Children, you must separate domestic and wild animals and name them in English.

• The fifth task is “Colored dream”. (presentation)

T: Look at the screen. Here you can see the table with colored cells. I decoded English words with the help of colors: blue color is for letter A, green color is for letter B and so on. Listen to me and write the words. For each correct word – 1 point.

• The seventh task is «Animals in Great Britain”.

T: Children, listen to the text and name the animals from this text.

   People in Great Britain like animals. There are even special hospitals, which help wild animals. There are a lot of television films about wildlife. Wild animals live in the woods, jungles and in the fields. They are foxes, tigers, wolves, elephants, hares and so on. There are animals that live near the people. They are called domestic animals. Some of them even help people. Horses, bulls, dogs help people a lot. Domestic animals are cows, cats, sheep and so on. Animals are very popular among the children and grown- ups in Great Britain.

• The eighth task is English proverbs.

T: Now I want you to work with English proverbs. You should decode English proverb with the help of English alphabet. Each number is the sequence number of letter in the alphabet. For example: 1-A, 3-C, 9-I. For each correctly pronounce proverb you will get 2 points.
