Мета: освітня – ввести в усне та письмове мовлення учнів лексичні одиниці за темою «Різдво»; розвиваюча – розвивати навички усного діалогічного та монологічного мовлення, пам'ять, увагу, розвивати навички аудіювання; виховна – підживлювати інтерес до вивчення англійської мови, виховувати повагу до культури країни, мову якої вивчають учні, заохочувати до спілкування виучуваною мовою, виховувати особисті якості (толерантність, відповідальність), сприяти соціалізації та адаптації учнів до нового колективу.

Обладнання: Комп’ютер, проектор, флеш-картки з виучуваними лексичними одиницями, дидактичні матеріали до відео, презентація.

Перебіг заходу

І. Початок уроку

1. Привітання. Підведення учнів до теми і мети заняття.

T: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Today we are here to celebrate one of the most important British holidays. Look around the classroom. Can you guess which holiday it is. Yes, you are absolutely right! It’s Christmas. And to create some holiday mood Yana and Dasha prepared a Christmas dance for you. You are welcome, girls! Please, applaud! (Дівчата танцюють тематичний танок.)

2. Актуалізація опорних знань

T: When is Christmas celebrated in Britain?

P: On the 25 of December.

T: Now look at the first slide, and name some words that you associate with every letter of the word.

P1: C is for celebration.

P2: H is for holiday.

P3: R is for roast turkey.

P4: I is for interest.

P5: S is for surprise.

P6: T is for tree.

P7: M is for merry.

P8: A is for amusement.

P9: S is for Santa.

T: Thank you. Let’s compare our thoughts. (Слайд 2)

Введення нових ЛО

1. Now I suggest you learning some more Christmas words. Look at the screen. Repeat them after me and pass a flashcard to your neighbor. We are going to do it in a circle so that everyone of you pronounce all the words. (Лексична гра «Коло»)

2. Write down the new words into your copybooks. And let’s play “Memory Game”. We name all the words in a row, then I take one and you should guess which. (Лексична гра «Пам'ять»)
3. And one more game – “Guess what”. One of you describes a word from the list and your groupmates guess. (Гра «Вгадай що»)

P 12: A kind of Christmas dessert.

P 13: Pudding.

P 14: A piece of clothes where presents are put.

P 15: Stockings.

P 16: An evergreen plant with red berries.

4. Now when you know the Christmas words let’s listen to one of your groupmates, Misha, who prepared some information about the origin of Ugly Sweater Parties.

P 1: An ugly Christmas sweater is any Christmas-themed sweater which is considered in bad taste. The more embellishments – reindeer, Santa, candy canes, presents – the uglier the sweater is. The first Ugly Sweater Party was held in the city of Vancouver in 2002. The dress code was an ugly Christmas sweater, of course. People vote to choose the ugliest sweater, play games and have fun. Sometimes they raise some money for charity. This kind of Christmas party is very popular in English-speaking countries nowadays. I think you’ll also like the idea.

6. After the first watching do true or false task.

ІІІ Заключна частина

Традиційні різдвяні ігри

Well, you worked hard and I suggest you playing traditional Christmas games “Pass a tangerine”, “Snowball toss” and “Christmas drawings”. Join into two teams and let us play!

“Pass a tangerine”

Pupils pass a tangerine in a circle without using their hands. The loser is the first team which drops the tangerine.

“Snowball toss”

Pupils should shoot a paper snowball into a basket. The winner is the team which has more goals.

“Christmas drawing”

The participants of each team make a column and without saying anything “draw” with a finger a picture from the word list on the back of the next pupil. One by one they come to the last student in a column and they say the word.
