Unit 4. Lesson 38. Prepositions on, in, under. Name the location of the objects.

Objectives: introduce new vocabulary( prepositions on, in, under), to practice the structures ‘How are you?’ ‘I`m …’,  ‘My favourite is…’, to develop students` listening, speaking and reading skills.

Vocabulary: prepositions on, in, under, emotions and feelings

Structure: ‘How are you?’ ‘I`m …’ ‘My favourite is…’

Materials:  flashcards, ‘Emotions’ flashcards, reading posters, ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ songs video, smart board presentation, reading equipment.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson pupils will be able to name the location of objects, say how they feel, sing the song of the lesson.

WARM-UP

  1. Sing ‘Hello’ song  with your students. Give them cards to introduce themselves.

Hello. I ‘m Veronica. I’m great.

PRESENTATION

  1. Explain the children that they have a surprise today.
  • Do you like computer games? Try to guess!

Show the Minecraft box.

 PRACTICE

Reading

- Read the word on the spoon and put in a proper paper cup. Which words did I write on the cups?

 

  1. Play a game with your students. Print out 2 sets of ‘Emotions Flashcards’. Choose 6 pupils to come up to the front of the class. Let each of them choose a flashcard from the first set of flashcards. Pupils hide the chosen cards behind their backs. Choose one more student (P7) to come up to the front of the class and give him the second set of flashcards. P7 comes up to each student in a row asking ‘How are you?’ The children at the board say ‘I`m …’ P7 chooses the corresponding flashcard from the set and gives it to the pupil. P7 continues asking questions the other pupils in a row. As P7 has done the activity with all the pupils standing at the board, they show their hidden flashcards and compare them with the pictures given by P7. The two pictures should be the same.
  2. Reading. Put ‘Reading poster’ onto the board. Read the words and encourage pupils to repeat. Choose a few pupils to read the exercise aloud to the class.

Writing. Stick flashcards onto the cards and read the sentence. Fill in on in under.

Feed a monster

Remember and write down any  new word
