We can use the present continuous to talk about our future plans and arrangements when we have decided on a time and a place with other people. I'm visiting my friend tomorrow. We aren't going to school today. What are you doing tonight?

The present continuous for future arrangements is very common with verbs of travelling and when we are meeting people. I’m leaving very early tomorrow. I’m taking the 7.30 train. I’m playing golf with Jack next Saturday. Would you like to come?I’m seeing the dentist after class.

Use am, is or are and ing. I'm having a party for my birthday. My brother is staying home tonight. They're going on holiday next week. For negatives, use not. I'm not doing anything this evening. She isn't meeting her friends tomorrow. We aren't going to school next week. For questions, change the order of am, is or are and the person. We normally use a future time expression, e.g. tomorrow, later, next week, at 7, etc. I’m meeting Sally at 7. (=I have talked to her, and we have arranged to meet.)I’m flying to New York tomorrow morning. (=I have the ticket.)We’re getting married next July. We often use the future simple tense to make a prediction about future facts and for uncertain situations (i.e. what we think will happen but we are not totally sure about it). We can contract will, especially when we're speaking. I'll live in a big city when I'm older. She'll have lots of pets. For negatives, use not. We usually contract will and not to make won't. We will not drive normal cars. = We won't drive normal cars. Children will not go to school in the future. = Children won't go to school in the future.
