CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is the significant variation of average weather conditions becoming, for example, warmer, wetter, or drier—over several decades or longer. Climate change can affect our health, ability to grow food, housing, safety and work. What causes climate change ?

Ozone layer. The ozone layer is the area high above the Earth's surface that protects living things from the harmful effects of the sun. The ozone hole has developed because people have polluted the atmosphere with chemicals containing chlorine and bromine. 

Greenhouse effect https://youtu.be/SN5-Dn. OHQm. EThe greenhouse effect is a process that occurs when gases in Earth's atmosphere trap the Sun's heat. This process makes Earth much warmer than it would be without an atmosphere.

Global warming is a gradual increase in the Earth`s temperature, caused due to the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas, and burning them causes what is known as the “greenhouse effect” in Earth’s atmosphere. Global warming. Gases produced by the burning of fossil fuels prevent the heat from leaving the atmosphere. The excess heat in the atmosphere has caused the average global temperature to rise overtime.

Trees absorb and store carbon dioxide. If forests are cleared, or even disturbed, they release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Deforestation is the purposeful clearing of forested land.  Forest loss and damage is the cause of around 10% of global warming. Deforestation (cutting down trees)

Wildfire. A wildfire is an unplanned fire that burns in a natural area such as a forest, grassland, or prairie. Wildfires are often caused by human activity or a natural phenomenon such as lightning, and they can happen at any time or anywhere.

Overpopulation is the state whereby the human population rises to an extent exceeding the carrying capacity of the ecological setting, because people need more food, water, housing, energy, transportation, and more. Overpopulation

Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. These harmful materials are called pollutants. Air pollution, water pollution, and land pollution are three major forms of environmental pollution.
