The aim of musical notes is to notate any musical idea, thought, composition, to make a score of any music so that any performer or performers could play it. The dot indicates augmentation of the musical note half of its value.

NOTE VALUES Any musical tone has its beginning, end, and its own exact duration. In the theory of music duration of the tone is defined as note value. So the note value is the time necessary for playing the given note. The goal of the note value is to organize the music.

The modern staff comprises five lines and four spaces on which we write down musical notes and other signs. A staff serves as the place for writing musical clefs, notes, rests, accidentals, key signatures, and other musical signs.

RESTS Rest is a certain, specifically organized, kind of silence in music. It is a sign which shows how long you are not to play or sing. Rests are the reverse side of the music that is heard. Rests play their specific role. They help build and at the same time differentiate musical structures. Rests demand different means of performing crescendo, diminuendo, and culmination.
