Prepositions of time and place

Найпоширенішими прийменниками в англійській мові є at, in, on. Вони допомагають нам правильно вказувати на місця, час та поєднувати різні частини мови в реченнях.

Прийменники місця (prepositions of place) вживаються для позначення місця, де знаходиться предмет, особа, або виконується певна дія. My cat is sleeping on the sofa. The houses at the suburbs of New York cost an arm and leg. There are many picturesque places in Ukraine

ATЯк прийменник місця at використовується у випадках, коли потрібно:

1. Вказати точне місце або адресу в реченні: His uncle lives at 178 Green Street. The wedding party will take place at Selena restaurant. I`ll see you at the cinema.

2. Вказати конкретне місце у будівлі: The student met his parents at the Principal`s office. You have to show your pass at the reception. We can find all we need for the project at the library on the first floor.

3. Вказати місцезнаходження об’єкту. The bank ia at the corner of the Regent and Bond streets. It's located at the foot of the Maritime Alps on the French Riviera. The treasure is hidden deep in the forest, ut you can find it by the spot on the map.

In. Як прийменник місця in використовується, щоб вказати:

1. Місцезнаходження у межах великого простору. There are many books and posters in this room. What about walking your dog in the park in the evening?The meeting will take place in the main office.

2. Країну, місто чи регіон Cherkasy is one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine. She has always dreamt of living in a big bustling city. In Tuscany you can experience its stunning landscapes, delicious food and wine, and rich culture

Прийменники часу (prepositions of time) вказують на час дії, її початок, кінець і тривалість або на певний проміжок часу. In spring, the weather is warmer. On Mondays, she usually goes to the gym. At weekends, we sometimes visit our grandparents.

ATПрийменник часу at використовується у випадках, коли нам необхідно :

1. Вказати точний час. The school starts at 8-30. I will meet you at 9-30 at the shopping mall. The train leaves at 10-15.

In. Як прийменник часу in може використовуватись коли ми говоримо про:

1. Місяць,рік, пору року. My class sometimes have school trips in June. Weather conditions can change quickly in the winter. The school got it`s name in 1972.

2. Період доби. I always have a cup of black tea in the morning. What do you usually do in the afternoon?

3. Тривалі періоди часу. In a few hours we`ll be surfing in the ocean. This city was founded in the 18th century. He will be ready with the project in 3 months.

On. Прийменник on як показник часу використовується, коли ми говоримо про:

1. Точну дату. My best friend was born on March 16th. His parents got married on 12 November 1989.

4. Період конкретного дня тижня. On Monday morning crowds of people hurry to their work. On Friday evening I have time to relax and unwind after hard working week.

2. Дні тижня. Нe was in school on Monday. My sister is throwing a party on Friday.

3. Зі святами, але не з періодами свят, а з конкретним святковим днем. On the New Year Eve, on Christmas day. People go to the chapel on Christmas Day. On New Year Eve we decorate the house with beautiful lights. What do you usually do on your birthday?
