Objectives: Teaching the pupils in expressing their own opinion about the press;
Development of the pupils’ oral speech and skills of reading, listening
and writing;
drawing up the pupils’ interest to the press.
Visual materials: copies of British newspapers and magazines
Procedure
I. Introduction:
Warming up:
1. Conversation with the pupils about the press;
2. The pupils name newspapers and magazines, which they know.
II. Speaking
1. Vocabulary work:
a) the pupils repeat the lexical units after the teacher;
b) the pupils explain the meaning of the lexical units;
c) the pupils give some examples using new vocabulary.
2. Read the article and answer the questions below:
Ex.3, p. 94.
III. Listening
Listen about British newspapers and magazines and say what two main
groups they belong to.
Ex. 1, p.94
IV. Writing
1. Complete the sentences (according to the text in listening)
Ex. 2, p. 94;
2. Divide the newspapers into quality papers and tabloids according to their
descriptions below. Fill in the table. (Ex. 4, p. 94)
