Objectives: to present and practise new vocabulary, to develop listening and speaking skills.
Learning outcomes: by the end of the lesson students will be able to greet someone in a new way.
Vocabulary: today, fine, great, very well
Language focus: the question ‘How are you?’
Materialstobeused: whiteboard, projector, powerpoint presentation, handouts, worksheets, a small ball.
Procedure
Teacher greets the students by saying ‘Good morning class’. Students respond ‘Good morning teacher'.
Teacher: Today we are going to continue learning English and by the end of the lesson you will be able to greet each other in different ways.
The teacher stands in front of the class, points to herself and says: ‘My name is … (the teacher’s name). Let's see if you remember how to introduce yourselves. We'll play the‘Ball Game’. I'll throw everyone the ball. Your task is to catch it and say your name. Let’s start!
Teacher (throws the ball): What is your name?
Student 1 (catches the ball) My name is … . (throws the ball back to the teacher)
Teacher: And now who wants to act out a dialogue introducing yourselves? (students act out the dialogue).
For example: S1: Hello!
S2: Hello!
S1: What is your name?
S1: My name is … . What is your name?
Presentation of new material:
Teacher: Well done! Let’s continue. Lets try to learn and memorize new words and expressions.
(handouts)
Listen and point to the pictures. Listen again and repeat.
How are you? I'm fine. I'm great.
(Teacher does choral and individual repetition)
Physical activity:
Teacher: OK, kids, let's relax! Stand up, look at me listen and repeat.
One, two, three
Look at me!
Hands up,

Hands on hips,
Sit down!

Teacher: What new words and expressions have you heard? Can you say them?
(the students watch the video and listen to the song once again; the teacher pauses the video after each new expression for students to repeat)
Teacher: And now lets sing the song all together!
Application of new material:
Role Play. Teacher: Look at the picture. Describe it (in Ukrainian). Act out a dialogue Use greeting phrases, ‘How are you?’ and the possible responses.
Trace and colour.
Summing up activities:What new question can you ask when you meet someone? What are the possible answers? ( the teacher can play a ‘Ball Game’)
Reserve activities:Worksheets. Vocabulary Practice. Trace and repeat after the teacher.
