Objectives:
-practical: to form listening comprehensive skills on the topic; to develop reading skills (looking for details); to motivate students to use new vocabulary on the topic in their speech;
-educative: to keep the following format of the lesson: T. - Class (group work); S.1 - S.2 (pair work)
-cultural: to introduce specific vocabulary on the topic to enrich students’ cultural awareness .

Good morning, dear guests! Welcome to our lesson!
Travelling becomes more and more popular. People travel on business or for pleasure. They would like to see their own country or sights abroad. At the lesson you’ll practice your reading and writing skills. Besides you’ll learn new words and word combinations and practice the usage of them in reading, writing and speaking. Moreover, you’ll listen and speak and at the end of the lesson you’ll tell us about your last journey. (Слайд 3-5)

T. To begin with, let’s work with the main verb of our topic- travel. Open your note-books, please. Write down date , the topic of our lesson and look at the blackboard. You can see the first letters of the verb. Please, copy these letters in your note-book and write down the words about travel ( and transport) that begin with these initial letters. It can be a noun, a verb or an adjective. To succeed in this task I offer you to consult the Vocabulary Bank ( p.116 wb.) . I ask you to do this work in pairs.

T. It is very useful, interesting and pleasant to travel because we enjoy nature and visit different cities. We see a lot of places of interest, we see places full of wonders, we learn more about people’s traditions.
Why do people travel? Why is it useful to travel? Why is it pleasant to travel?

S.3 Some people want to watch the nature around.

T. There are different types of holidays. Last lesson as your homework I asked you to read the texts (sb.p.84ex.2) and choose your perfect holiday. Read the phrases about your preferences in the text which can prove your choice.
S.1 I have chosen beach holidays because I like swimming in the warm and clear water of St Vincent in the Caribbean.
S.2 I have chosen tours because I want to visit all the top tourist sights and museums of Rome, Venice, Paris and London.
S.3 I have chosen activity holidays because I prefer to be active when I am on holiday. I have a chance to go mountain biking, hiking, climbing, and kayaking in different countries.
S.4 I have chosen backpacking holidays because I can plan my trip and book all my transport and accommodation.
S.5 I have chosen camping holidays because I can stay at fantastic campsites for great prices.
