Ah la la la la is wonderful,
La la la la la.

“ My future profession’’
It’s not easy task to make the right choice of a job. I have known for a long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examinations of my abilities and character, I have asked myself a lot of times: « What do I want to be when I live school?” A few years ago it was difficult for me to give a definite answer. As the years passed I changed my mind a lot of times about which science or field of industry to specialize in . It was difficult to make up my mind and choose one of the hundreds of jobs to which I might be better suited. A couple of years ago I wanted to become a doctor. I thought it was a very noble profession. I was good at biology and chemistry in the 8th and 9th forms. I wanted to help people who had problems with health. I knew that a doctor should be noble in work and life, kind and attentive people, responsible, honest and prudent. A doctor, who is selfish, dishonest, can’t be good at his profession. I tried to do my best to develop good traits in myself.
Now I have already decided what to do. I’d like to be a teacher. I know that it’s very difficult to become a good teacher. You should know perfectly the subject you teach, you must be well- educated and well-informed. I decided to become an English teacher, so I’ll try to enter the Foreign Language Department of the university. Today the teachers of English are of great demand in our country. And after graduating from the Pedagogical University I’ll have an interesting job. I’ll always liked the atmosphere of teaching and learning which is generally created by the teacher and I’ll do my best to become a teacher who will arouse pupil’s interest by high proficienty and personality, warm and respectful relationships with pupils. I’ll do everything to become such a teacher and I’m sure I’ll never regret my decision to follow this career.
“ The Profession of My Dream”
Plans for the future is a problem that worries me- I have to make a very important choice in my life- the choice of a profession. On the one hand, I’m adult enough to have an opinion of my own about what I’m interested in and what I’m good at. On the other hand, at this age we lack life experience and our inclinations sometimes don’t coincide with our possibilities. That’s why it’s very important to have somebody to give a piece of advice. Such people are, first of all, our parents and teachers, those people, who know us best. As for me I’d like to become a militiaman. This work is interesting, dangerous and selfless. There are no fixed working hours; you have to work days and nights, often without week-ends, sometimes when all the other people have public holidays like New Year Eve, or Victory Day. There are no personal interests in militia: you work for interest of the society. But at the same time profession of a militiaman is a noble one. When people are in need of defense, they usually call militia. A militiaman is to defend people’s life and property, to work out people’s conflicts and stand on guard of law. To become a good militiaman one should study the science of Law, history, economy; one must be well informed about political events in our country and abroad. It’s also very important to be honest and fair, even-tempered and patient. So, I want to work in militia, and I’m sure I’ll never regret my decision.
“ My Plans for the Future”
It’s not a secret that Ukraine is now through a difficult period of times and that Ukrainian economy is in a deep crisis. That’s why it’s very important for our country to have efficient economists to raise our economy at a higher level. I want to study economics as I’m very interested in current economic processes both in Ukraine and in other countries. I’m eager to understand the reasons of economic problems and to discover the ways for their working out. I think we should consider the experience of developed countries, which have already overcome their hardships; but it’s also very important to take into account historical and cultural peculiarities of our country. So, I want to become a good specialist and work for the welfare of Ukraine.
“ Choosing a Profession”
I am a school leaver and a problem of choosing a profession is the most urgent for me now. Certainly I have thought this question over for a long time. My parents have their own opinion on it. But as the time of leaving school is closer, my worries become stronger and stronger. As the most of my friends and classmates I am going to enter the university or some other higher educational institution. I expect to get a “ Certificate of Maturity” with good and excellent marks. But I realize that a lot of young people will bring their “Certificates” with excellent marks to the selection committee of the university. As for me I have no aptitude for mastering the technique. But at the same time I don’t know if I’ll manage to get a good job after the department in some way connected with management. But I doubt if I have needed personal qualities for this job. To my mind one who chooses this profession must be very communicative. And of course, if you want to gain something in this field, you have to know which worries me a lot. If I don’t get marks necessary for admition to the university, they can suggest that I should pay for my education and our family has no money for this. There is one more possibility to continue my education. I mean some colleges. Our country is now through a difficult period of times and it needs good specialists in many spheres. May be I’ll choose accountancy .It is very important to every business. A competent accountant is needed everywhere. If I don’t enter a college or university, I’ll try to do my best to learn operate the computer. Certainly I’ll go on studying English at some courses. I am sure without this knowledge it is impossible to get a good job. Many people started at the bottom and worked their way up to the top.
“ The Choice I Have Made”
I am finishing school now and I must choose my future job. There are many interesting professions but as for me the best one is to be a journalist. It requires plenty of contacts with people and I like it a lot because I am a very sociable person and I can find a common language with anyone. Journalists make reports and write articles and I think it’s great. Another advantage of this job is that journalists often meet and interview interesting and famous people, visit new places and have a meaningful life that is rich in impressions. They always know new information and share it with people. My father said that it was a dirty job because of the great amount of false and useless information nowadays in our press and on television. I don’t agree because every job has bad professionals as well as good ones. To be a good journalist, I should be a well – educated and broad – minded person. So, I should read a lot of books and be sure that I’m good at writing. I must enter university and study hard there. As for my plans, I’m going to prepare seriously for exams and study hard at university. And I’m going to try and find a job at some local newspaper. I hope I’ll have a success in the field of journalism.
T: The choice of a future profession is very responsible but not the one you make during your life. Certainly, all of you dream about… By the way, what do you dream about? ( Students’ answers)
T: Your dreams are quite different but in one word you dream about happiness. People have always dreamed about happiness, that’s why there are a lot of sayings about it. Look through some of them and comment on the one you like most.
“ There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.” George Sand
“ The greatest part of our happiness depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances.” Martha Washington
“ The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet.” James Oppenheim
“ Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” Mohandas K. Gandhi
“ Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Norman Macewan
“ Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“ The amount of happiness that you have depends on the amount of freedom you have in your heart.” Thich Nhat Hanh

T: Today you are having a brilliant chance to try your hand at cooking but it will be unusual because you will cook a cake of happiness. I hope it will be delicious. In 5 minutes be ready to share of the cake with your peers.
( The students make the projects and in 1-2 sentences write the recipe of their cakes.)
Suggested word list:
Put, add, and mix, good friends, a lot of money, no money worries, a friendly supportive family, a big house, a creative job, good health, love, understanding.
Sample answer
For my cake of happiness I took a lot of good health, added a supportive friendly family and my loyal friends. Then I mixed it with love and no money worries. I believe my cake is very tasty.
T: Now let’s try to give some pieces of advice to those who are eager to be happy but maybe don’t know how to do it. Continue the sentence “ If you want to be happy,…
S1: enjoy the moment.”
S2: take regular exercise.”
S3: get a pet.”
S4: get out of town.”
S5: sing.”
S6: appreciate what you have.”
S7: believe in yourself!”
T: One more piece of advice is encoded on the blackboard. “ Happy, worry, be, don’t!”
Answer: “ Don’t worry! Be happy!”
( The students sing a song “ Don’t worry! Be happy!”
T: Of course, it is very important to make the right choice. But I think it is more important what kind of person you will become. I wish you to find yourselves in this world, be kind, honest and noble everywhere and in everything. I wish you success in your future life. May all your cherish dreams come true! Go to your ambitions and remember: “ When the people are eager, the gods join in!”
