“WE ARE THE CITIZENS OF ONE BIG WORLD!”

T. Every country is an incredible wonderful world of people, cities and towns, traditions and places of interest. You know, we are the citizens of Ukraine. We love and respect our Motherland. But we should remember we are the citizens of one big world. So we have to know customs and traditions of different countries, be careful and tolerant.

T. At school we study English, so today we are going to travel to Great Britain and try to understand why it is called great.

P2. Welcome to this land.

Its name is Wonderland!

You know it as Britain.

You’ll meet its friendly people,

Their customs and traditions,

Holidays and dishes.

Lets go to this land!

It’s pretty Wonderland!

P3. We are the pupils now and we’ve already learnt a lot about Great Britain, British cities, main holidays and its people. We can prove our knowledge of English.

—  I’m Elisabeth II, I’m the Queen of England. Buckingham Palace is the place where  I live. But in summer I live in Windsor Castle. Its outside London.

—  I’m the Beefeater. I’m a guard of the Tower of London. Every night at 9.53 p. m. I lock  the gates and take part in the ceremony lie keys. A group of ravens live at the Tower . The tradition goes that if they fly away Tower will collapse! So, we feed them.

—  My name is Kate Middleton, I’m Prince William’s wife, so, I’m a princess myself, I want to tell you about Westminster Abbey. It’s one of the oldest buildings in London. English kings and queens are coronated and buried here. It was my wedding ceremony there too.

—  My name is Admiral Nelson. I am a historical person. I was a commander of the British fleet and won lots of battles. In 1805 I destroyed the French-Spanish fleet at Trafalgar and was killed. You can see my monument, the Nelson Column, which stands in the most famous London square — Trafalgar Square.

—  I’m Margaret Thatcher. I was the only woman — Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1979 till 1991. The place of my work was the Houses of Parliament which as you know has famous Big Ben clock. And the place where I lived was Downing Street 10. All the Prime Ministers always live there.

• I’m a Zoo keeper. London zoo is situated in a very beautiful park — Regent’s Park. It was opened in 1827, and now it contains more than 8000 animals. You may adopt an animal for a year. Ana you can have a ride on a pony, carnal or llama.
• My name is Madam Tussaud. I orga-nised the museum of wax figures more than 190 years ago. It was a sensation! And nowadays it’s a great attraction too. Over two million visitors go there to see 500 lifelike figures of the famous people.
• I am the British Museum gide. It was founded more than 260 years ago! It is famous for Egyptian mummies and the Rosetta Stone. It has collections of works of art from Egypt, Greece and ancient Rome.

— My name is Christopher Wren. I built the most famous London church — St. Paul’s Cathedral. Its dome has become the symbol of London since 1710.

P6. English is the first language of different countries. New Zealand, Australia, Canada and America are English-speaking countries. American cowboys want to say “good day” to you. But the would like to speak with the help of the dancing language! The merry dance of cheerful cowboys! (Children dance)
